For some unknown reason my ps2 still lives

The PS2 didn't have the same components. My phat PS2 is still fine and so is my friends phat PS2 despite the fact they threw a drink over it! Can't imagine the PS3 would survive the same. My PS1 still works fine too. The older consoles were built to last longer.
PS3/PS4 also require software updates and that alone can create issues.0 -
There are many faults not just over heating on both the 360 & PS3.
Open tray for example on the 360, or the burning out of the HD socket on the PS3 both of which have enabled me to pick them up dirt cheap, and in the case of the 360 make a nice profit on.0 -
It always amuses me when people talk about machines from whoever are faulty, then point to surveys where people with faulty machines answer and give a false result. I have a 60G PS3 and a launch 360 Elite and never had a fault with either of them. I imagine there will be a lot of users out there with no problem either, yet we are constantly told that our machines should be failing.
That's a survey of 5000 people, so statistically meaningful.
I've also got both a 360 and a PS3. I've had 3 Xboxes, 2 of them failed, but the PS3 has not failed. My experience would appear to be closer to the statistical norm than yours.... but someone has to get lucky.0 -

I totally agree with you that graphics don't make game. I still play old games like Red Alert 2, Fable etc. But what I am trying to say is that if I am given a choice between same Uncharted game with PS2 standard graphics and PS4 standard, I will choose one with better graphics.
If we take example of battlefield 3 and 4.
On PC bf3 had 64 players servers where as Xbox/PS4 had 24 or 32 and it was also locked on 30fps. Because 32 vs 32 was much more fun, most of my friends switched from Xbox to PC(yes i know it was because of game play issue and nothing to do with graphics).
In Bf4 they have 64 player servers but game still doesn't look as great as it looks on a PC.
Only thing I am trying to say is if I get same game on all platforms I will always choose to play it with better graphics and fps.
Yes PC are lot more expensive and require constant upgrades etc. but if someone can afford it than they are far better choice than consolesYou cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. Even without considering graphics I prefer the PS3 controllers over other controls. I know there are adapters, PC controllers that are similar to PS3 ones etc. But it's not quite the same and more hassle.
As far as expense goes, it's not about the hardware (at least, not entirely). The PC I use is classed as a gaming PC. Bought because I always have multiple programmes/browser windows open and use programmes such as Photoshop and basically it worked out that I may as well get a gaming PC over the other computers I was considering. I probably won't bother upgrading it though lol.
I buy a lot of games and play various ones. I don't want to be installing them all. Plus it's harder to sell PC games and in some cases (what with the keys) impossible. Then even with things such as Steam, I can generally get console games cheaper than the PC games.0 -

Its complete opposite for me, I am much more confortable with keyboard and mouse than a controller. I mostly play multilayer games like bf3, bf4 and dota so I prefer mouse. Its all about personal preferences.
I though Xbox 360 controller and one that comes for PC are same, or is there any difference besides ports?
I do know that people resell there console games but I am not sure how it works. Once you have registered a game to your windows live id or PSN and you give your dvds to someone else. What will happened??? I have never owned a console so idk how it works.
Great thing about games on PC is that when they become around 2 years old you can get them at really low prices. GOG, humble bundle and steam have these amazing deals that are just irresistible.
You can get most of game for more than 75% discount on steam autumn and winter sales. though these sales don't last whole year but there is a discounted game on stem every week.
I bought Rising Storm which was release in 2013 and named best multilayer for 2013 by PC gamers for just 5$
I bought a bundle of Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Uprising, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge and few more game from humble bundle for just 1$

Indeed. I spend most of my time on the computer so for games it's nice not to have a keyboard and mouse. To be fair, although I've played PC games I've never played any such as BF.I though Xbox 360 controller and one that comes for PC are same, or is there any difference besides ports?
I think you can get various PC controllers so some are bound to be like the PS3 or Xbox controllers. I'm sure I could use my PS3 or Xbox 360 controller as a PC controller if I wanted, it's just I'd have to find some sort of adapter or something I imagine.I do know that people resell there console games but I am not sure how it works. You don't register the games. Some games have an online pass so you can game online so if you buy a used game without a pass you have to pay out more to buy one. Aside from that, you don't register games, there's no keys, it's not linked to anything. So you can buy and sell pre-owned games without worry.
If you install a game from disk to the hard drive you still need the disk to play.
Downloading digital games is different - there's no way to resell them. That and the price is the main reason I don't download games, I always buy the disk.Great thing about games on PC is that when they become around 2 years old you can get them at really low prices. They don't. However, I find games stupidly cheap all the time.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii) - £27.94 new on Amazon. I paid 98p (new) last year for that.
Grid 2 (PS3) - 12.97 new on Amazon. I just got that for £3.75 (new).
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition (Xbox 360) - £22.87 new on Amazon. I just paid £3.75 (new) for it.
Animal Crossing (GameCube) - around £22 to buy that pre-owned. I paid about £2 for it.
The Legend of Zelda - The Wind Waker [Ltd. Edition inc. 2 Game Bonus Disc] (Gamecube) - currently about £25 used (it was around £50). I can't remember quite what I paid but it was less than £5.
I also bought a PS2 game like 8 years ago in a 4 for £20 deal (a decent deal at the time) and sold it a few years back for about £11. Rubbish game too.
Also bought pokemon DS games for £1.99/£2.99. They're worth £10+ easy.
That's just a very short list of games I've bought cheap. Plus I can sell them later on so even if they lose their value I've not lost out.
I also don't need to worry about what's installed on my computer or worry about running out of space. I can pick up any game and just start playing it.0 -

At the same time, that point should be balanced out by noting that a PC capable of playing games to a high level will cost much more in initial outlay than a home console will, and it will need to be upgraded more often to maintain that level of relative performance. As such PC gaming really is quite different to console gaming at high levels, and it all comes down to personal preference. Personally I use both in different situations, because they can offer fundamentally different experiences and also have different strengths and weaknesses in terms of accessibility."MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE? The post I quoted was on about the Steam sale so what does it matter if some of them were sales? Anyhow, only 3 out of the 8 listed were from sales. There is little doubt that in terms of looking at games in isolation Steam and equivalent digital delivery platforms (such as GOG, GMG and so on) offer much better value for PC games than either digital or physical console games, as do the normally excellent Humble Bundles. You just cannot find widely available value like that for consoles unless you make the specific effort to go to Morrisons after Christmas, Currys/PC World when they were getting rid of their games sections etc, and even then these sorts of things are heavily reliant on luck. Digital PC sales are not.
I get cheap games all the time from various shops/sites. I've even got some free (legally, of course). My posts were based on my reasons why I find console gaming cheaper so it makes no difference to me if it costs other people more. I never said anyone else could get them so cheap, but any game I want I find it cheap. I've seen plenty I've bought come up in the Steam sales and they've been the same or more than I've paid and I'll have already had the game months. It's not really luck when I buy games cheap all the time.
Plus with console games even people who pay more than me can sell their games and get some money back. There's often trade in offers too.At the same time, that point should be balanced out by noting that a PC capable of playing games to a high level will cost much more in initial outlay than a home console will, and it will need to be upgraded more often to maintain that level of relative performance. Exactly. Overall, I prefer the PS3 controller, graphics don't bother me and I can get games cheap making console gaming overall far cheaper. Although I don't doubt that if I wanted to I could build my own PC for a great price. Having said that, I do have a gaming PC which I imagine wouldn't do too bad for most games so technically wouldn't cost me in that sense to start PC gaming lol.0
