Hello again! Sorry I am asking again!! When I worm this hen do I let her out to free range at all in the 7 days? I have just read how to administer the flubenvet and was wondering if she was allowed out to eat what she wants in the garden? Am thinking it may not be a good idea incase she eats worms that could be infected. But as u can tell I havent a clue really!!! I understand she isnt to have treats whilst being treated, including corn?
thanks in advance for all help and advice ;-)Life happens when you are busy making other plans

Mine still free range because they don't have runs, but they only have the treated pellets, no corn or any other treats.0

I bought my coop from Here.
Very good service, the original one i ordered was damaged so they upgraded to the bigger one at no extra cost.
Very similar designs to the ones in your link.
I have also discovered that sizing coops is very much like tents. You COULD get 6 hens in a six hen coop, But they would be quite "snug". Four would be more realistic.
Thanks for that - I'm only getting 3 hens so I'm looking at houses for 4+ hens.0 -
Ahh thankyou Gigervamp, have ordered flubenvet from amazon as I had vouchers to use up there,,but it wont be here until mon/tues that was using express delivery ;/
so now am worried about her having to wait! I will ask hen friend who is popping in later to have a look at her if she has any so I could maybe start her off then replace what i used. Oh crikey this chicken has defo won me overLife happens when you are busy making other plans

Nykied, are you sitting down? there is something really important we have to tell you.
There is this condition that hens infect their humans with, it is called i-want-more-chickens-itis. Sadly, it seems to affect us all, and there is no cure. Once you have it you are pretty much done for.
As you don't have your hens yet your mind is still functioning logically, but, trust us, once your girls arrive they will fascinate and enthral you, and you won't stop at 3. Just look at us, this time last year I got my first 3. I now have errrrm, [STRIKE]5[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]6[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]7[/STRIKE] 8 (chick hatched this morning) and am on my 3rd hen house and run upgrade. Giger and her OH are chronic sufferers, and even Spirit's car has been infected and takes her to poultry places all of its own accord. Naughty car!And Kirsty wasn't very keen on birds just a week ago yet now she is totally hooked :rotfl: It gets us all does i-want-more-chickens-itis.
So while you may be thinking three right now, it might be best to plan for double that, at least. Maybe treble.... Maybe..0 -
Heather, that made me :rotfl:
And you've got a chick! Woohoo!0 -
evening all
i recently purchased a netting run from Omlet, i read up on it and phoned them regarding some of the negative reviews of chickens escaping.I was told that if a hen has plenty of food they wont try and escape. So when i first put it up and one escaped over it i blamed it on them launching off the nesting box.Today we moved the coop an put it central in the run.one still escaped.
now to my question wing clipping,i have read and watched tutorial and am nervous in case they bleed .how likely is this?
or is my netting just rubbish and be sent back as not fit for purpose.MAKE £2022 in 2022 no 29 £2022/£434.10

Re wing clipping, my legbars had their wings clipped and yet they still managed to fly to the top of the compost bin (made out of pallets, so about 4 feet high).
Before we had finished the fencing in the top field recently, we found that the girls had discovered a gap in the bushes and were able to wander into the garden, so we put some of that orange netting like they use on building sites, across the bottom of the garden to stop them getting onto the drive and then down onto the road.
It didn't work, they either piled on top of it to knock it over, or stuck their heads under it and wiggled their way through!
They had plenty of food as well as a field full of grass, so I don't believe what Omlet say about them not wandering if they have plenty of food! I'm sure it was a case of the grass looking greener on the other side!0
