Giger sorry about Belle. Hope the rest of your chickens are ok and you get those meds soon. Your vid is great. I love duckypoos constant chatter and those little feet can move so fast. 0

Intresting comments on your new house Happymum.
Any eggs yet?
Giger does Duckypoos think he is a chicken? Is he too young to go in with the ducks?0 -

When I was working in the run today I'm sure I heard the little banty making strange purring sounds. Could she have talking to her eggs? Is this a sign that they are due to hatch?
I reckoned that Thursday might be hatching day. Getting so excited!!0 -
Thanks all. Really sad to lose Belle.
We did get the meds monday evening, so I was going to start giving it yesterday, but we'd been reading at various places online about egg withdrawal periods with Baytril and there're some differences of opinion. Some vets say that you should never eat the eggs again, others that you should have a 28 day period. Our vet at first said 2 months, then 4 weeks, then that perhaps we should isolate the affected hens and only treat them (which we can't do as all our spare coops are being used by broodies atm).
When I let the girls out yesterday morning, I had a good look at them and they look much better now. Just one with a bubbly eye. So we've decided to hold off on using the Baytril.
Lili who is indoors is much better now too and happily pooing everywhere! I have a plastic bag and roll of kitchen towel in the living room where she is, for cleaning up. She's got used to the dog and the cats now. Oh, and one of our cats, Pixel, scared himself and Lili the other day! He forgot she was on the settee with me and went to jump up to get on my lap, came face to face with Lili, she squawked and he jumped straight back off the settee with a wild panicky look in his face. :rotfl:
Iona, not sure if duckpoos thinks he's a chicken, but he has been having little swims in his (cat litter tray) pond.
In other news, one of the older chicks started crowing this morning! Well, I think that's what it was, sounded more like a squeeky wheel! :rotfl: Short little video here.0 -
