Lovely to see mum and the chicks. Giger. How are the ducks?
Spirit Sorry to hear you have another poorly hen. Hope its just an off day for her and nothing serious.
Love the pics Happymum.0 -
Well little Brownie ran out of her house this morning and running up and down the bars looking for the others.
I checked her sleeping quarters and there was a softie. Hopefully this explains why she was a bit off yesterday. I put her back in with the others and she is eating and drinking well.
Hope everyone is ok today.
Loving the wee little chook piccies tooMortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
Spirit, good news about Brownie.
Iona, the ducks are doing well. No egg in the house this morning, so I'll have to check amongst the weeds later.
I haven't seen the chicks this morning as they were all tucked up under mum, but I could hear them cheeping.0 -
Chicks day 4. (And a bit of ducks and bedraggled chickens!)0

Me too
And a few more bantams.
And some quail.
I need some money :rotfl:
Do many of you sell your spare eggs? Can I ask how you first set about it and how you decided what to charge?0 -
We sell ours. You can buy egg boxes on ebay and various chickeny sites.
If you're selling direct to the public, either at your gate or to friends/workmates etc, you don't need to have a license. However, if you wanted to sell them to a catering company, or through a shop, you do need to be licensed.
We originally sold 1/2 doz eggs for £1, but everybody told us they'd be willing to pay more and that we should be charging more! So we upped the price to £1.50.
Hubby sells them to people at work and as word has got around, demand often outstrips supply.
The money goes into a pot and gets used on feed, bedding, Diatom, more chickens etc.
We put a mix of eggs in the box, so there will usually be one or two blue, a dark brown, a white, as well as the usual light brown ones. The customers really like the mix.0 -
I charge £1 a box (of 6) and sell to workmates and neighbours.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0
