Funny you should say that. When hubby tweeted the pic, someone replied saying we looked like we'd been burgled, from the inside, by chickens! :rotfl:

I've put them back with the others this morning. Sebastians nose seems to have dried up and I need to get stuff done in the kitchen today, can't have another repeat of yesterday! I'd put the newspaper down so that I wouldn't have so much poo on the floor to clean up, but he decided to scratch out half the bedding in the box and spread that around too. <rolls eyes> Most of it's swept up now, but I need to get the hoover out to get the bits that are stuck to the door matts and in ALL the nooks and crannies.
  • Chickenopoplis sorry to hear you've lost one of your girls. Only chicken people understand the attachment, while others suggest you put them in the pot!!!
The others will no doubt miss her too.

Giger your photos are great. Our 3 are banned from the kitchen now since Lettie wasn't happy on the floor and decided to investigate the worktop.
  • Giger, my house looked like that yesterday - I often let the girls in for a half hour to warm up and give me a cuddle and for whatever reason I was distracted and left them in the utility and kitchen where the cat litter is. They decided to dig it up and it was EVERYWHERE!

Thank you ionahenor2 x x I am now looking after two extra hens as my friend is going away for a holiday over Christmas and I offered to do this a while back- a timely distraction . They arrived last night and the Sussex is now shouting very loudly at my hens! They are very good looking hens and mine look really small and scraggy compared to these two.

Gigervamp - a sensible move lol ! Glad to hear that his cold seems to have passed . But I think he will miss his cosy kitchen though x

Sad news today. Sebastian died this afternoon. :(

Xmas day he was looking poorly again, so we brought him back down to the house. He seemed to be ok-ish once in the house, eating and drinking, but this morning when I went to feed him, he was hunched up, head and tail down and not interested in food or water.
His nose was really runny and he had mucus coming from his beak.

Despite our attempts to help him, he just went downhill and left us late afternoon.

Anyway, got to go now, can't see what I'm typing. I'll speak to you again tomorrow.
  • Gigervamp I am so sorry to hear your sad news. What an awful shock for you . Poor Sebastian, he was such a character and a very handsome boy.

I've been following this thread lately as I'm hoping to get some chooks v soon -I'm very sad to hear of your loss gigervamp, hope you're ok. Sebastian was a very lucky boy to have been so loved and cared for. Take care.
