Welcome to the world of chicken keeping!
I'm sure curiosity will get the better of them before long.0 -
I am ready with the camera for some pics
The big ginger tom had a slightly curious look and then ignored them and came to me for a cuddle. He is a very laid back cat, will be fine. But I put netting over the top anyway just in case.

Can I ask how long they take to tame down ? These are point of lay but they dont seem at all used to people. When she put them in our box they went beserk0

It all depends on the birds. Amelia, one of the first 3 we got still won't let us touch her. Our legbars run whenever we start heading in their direction, as does our silkie x, but the others, although not keen on being picked up, aren't too bad. And yet Mabel, our faverolle, loves sitting on your lap and having her undercarriage stroked!0

Had a terrible first day - the RV was never keen on hens to start with, and things just got a lot worse
He is 6ft tall and the run is about 6-8" higher than the top of his head... its all covered with netting apart from one corner where we ran out and thought oh chickens dont jump 6ft it'll be ok ... AND YET one of the damn bl**dy chickens, who has a vertical take off like a Harrier, managed to get OUT OF THE TOP!:rotfl::rotfl:
I heard a bit of a commotion, looked outside, and there she was large as life, walking down the garden pathI opened the door, asked her what she thought she was doing, and she came up the steps as if to come in. Then the RV appeared and bawled SEE !! I KNEW IT !!
and she about turned and took off up the garden. I had to get in front of her and shake a tray with food in, to head her off. But she went back in quite easily. We had to belt up to B&Q for a netting to finish covering the top. Now totally knackered !:DBeen a long day !0 -
Oh, the joys of chicken keeping! :rotfl:
Your girl there sounds like my Gracie. She's the Steve McQueen of chickens! Everytime we think we've found the way she's getting out and patch it up, she finds another way out!
Had to get her and Amelia out of the bottom field this afternoon.
Hubby's been putting up fencing in the top field this weekend so we can move them up there. Just hope they don't escape from there as it's right next to the lane and cars go bombing along it. :mad:0 -
Why do you cook it if it's just veg?
Agree with you about policing the ban.
Probably because raw potato peelings are poisonous and other peelings aren't that attractive (not to my lot, anyway!).Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

One has a tiny wee red wobbly thingy on her head (forget what that's called ) and the other one has none. Does this mean they are quite young ?0

This was little baldy last year.
This is her now!
Loves my DD's playhouse but not allowed in just in case she poops. Follows us round the garden and jumps on your back if you bend down. She is an ex-batt and just doesn't know she is a hen:rotfl:Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
