Thank you. I know from your diary you understand the pet loss.
So sorry about your cat. They are so much part of us, it's so hard when they are not with us anymore. May she long chase birds and butterflies in the sky

As recently as 2 months ago she killed a swallow . Not very nice of her but impressive skills, we thought! So we now believe she lives in a warm sunny garden where there is a year round supply of swallows to attack, when she isn't lazing in the sun having a nap. I wish we could visit her for cuddles though :(

Am feeling a little calmer today just still very sad. But real life doesn't stand still and house move must happen. We've found a place to move to (location not ideal but it's a decent size and really nice all things considered). Unfortunately we can't get the keys until 4 days before we leave here. So we are getting stuff into storage near the new place and trying to clear as much as possible. I thought I was doing well (44 odd boxes done as well as most of the contents of the garden shed, the bike shed, the garage and the tack room). But last night I looked at my "planning" list which included all the big things and realised there was still a horrendous amount to do. I'm loathe to move furniture twice but realistically we might have to get some of it in to the storage unit. I think I'm going to leave clothes and most of the kitchen stuff and just move that at the appropriate time directly to the new place. But I'm really worried that despite how much we've moved already, the house still looks the same  (When you open cupboards etc it's a better story, but honestly. So. Much. Stuff).

So better crack on but first a shower as I've lost track of when I last had one. Which is ridiculous as there is half a tank of gas that we are leaving to the new owners - better get using as much as I can ;)

Update. Packing continues (70+ boxes now on top of all the other stuff). Sadness continues but is more a dull ache. I am trying not to think about our fluffy princess too much, as it still hurts. Money - who knows? I still have some, I think.

I am a bit tired, if you can't tell. :(

Well done on the packing, despite your loss. Would like to say it stops, but it just becomes a different ache. Glad the small is bringing you joy, they have a wonderful knack if doing that.

So so sorry re your loss. It's horrid losing them. It never happens at a good time...am sure it's mixed with your regrets at moving from what's clearly a special home for you all. Our special cat was lost at 18 years..he was a very gorgeous gift on a very special day from me to my OH. About a year or more later though we welcomed two of his relatives....they now fill us with joy and I think he'd appreciate that. Family members via his mum...one is here with us now..the other will be sleeping upstairs x

Thanks PF and Brizzle. I love that you have relatives Brizzle - we still have this one's son but he's 11 already; though much less sensitive and fragile than his mum (aka a loveable lump).

Doing ok here. Ache is manageable mainly as I'm busy. We've kind of stagnated on the packing but that's deliberate. This weekend we will load up the lorry with big bits of furniture and it can then sit there till moving day. We are pretty much decided we will sell all our white goods so need to get those listed in a day or two. And redirection of Royal Mail needs arranged by Thursday or Friday. Most importantly have lined up our contents insurance to be switched and we get a rebate for the buildings part. Need to arrange utilities, broadband etc sooner rather than later. We are in credit with current electricity supplier. Bulk gas is now paid up to date. And with BT we paid line rental a year upfront. Need to pay the deposit and first month's rent next week but I get paid before then so the rent will be instead of next month's mortgage payment. So just the deposit to take out of savings really. Other change of addresses aren't too critical - so long as Amazon etc gets sorted quickly!

That was a bit of a brain dump. Happy to take any hints as I haven't moved in 9 years and we haven't rented in a very long time.

Oh yes - and the 5 year plan has quietly come to fruition (well kinda) approximately 4 years early :rotfl:. We are now the proud owners of a very big field :T

Re the moving bit..I last moved 16 years ago so can't really comment.... other than kettle, tea bags and mugs were always at hand. Plus I labelled all my boxes on long and the short side and got the removal chaps to put them in correct room from the off. We slept on mattresses on floor on first night as was not about to start building beds. It was fine. And Dd1 was introduced to the Tweenies on a DVD..she was engrossed from the start and still loves that DVD :rotfl:

Darling cat took it all in his stride btw...he just stuck close to us for a while

Oh I don't even know where to begin. Herein lies a warning for all would be renters....

So I posted that we couldn't get the keys for the rental as soon as we'd like. However we negotiated to get in to the garage early (deposit was all paid). We dropped off a load of stuff on Saturday morning. Unfortunately the previous tenant had left a load of stuff there. Long story short, the landlord had arranged for someone to come and clear it, and in doing so they cleared all our stuff as well. It's unclear whether this was theft. LL tells us that it was made very clear what he was to take. One item was subsequently found that we'd been told went to the tip. The workers at the tip don't remember some of the large items being dropped off (eg, a very shiny new bike seat for DS). So we still live in a tiny dreamland that our stuff is somewhere, but realistically we are never seeing it again. I'm angry at myself as I had an inkling this wasn't a great idea and muttered to DH we should just take outdoors stuff like plants etc. However I didn't force the point and am now kicking myself. So days of stressing about this. We did end up taking some big bits of furniture over on Sunday, after expressly making sure nobody would be accessing the garage again before we moved in. Today we were due to get the keys and the lease arrived by email. At the very last minute we noticed the terms weren't as we agreed (and were different to the draft we saw last week). So back on the phone to the agents. They said LL was insisting on the terms (a year instead of 6 months) which is not part of our plan at all. The agents did admit that this was their mistake. So we were close to having nowhere to go, 3 days before leaving here. Thankfully agents managed to get LL to change his mind so we signed lease and got keys. DH went over to the house to check it out, and took some minor things with him. Found the garage sitting wide open, with all our stuff in it. In it, at least, rather than missing like the last lot. So seems like the company doing the inventory had indeed been given access to the garage, and then left it wide open. Oh then DH discovered the washing machine is not there. Previous tenants said white goods were to remain. Agents were clueless when we asked at the time of viewing. Luckily the people buying here said they didn't need white goods (we had said we'd leave them) so now definitely need to take our washing machine with us.

So fair warning not to be as naive as us and not to let any of your stuff out of your control. There was nothing irreplaceable but some stuff of sentimental value.

Am also in arguments with Bee Tee about exiting my contract here. Apparently an early exit will cost me £144 so now I'm telling them they haven't given me anything like the guaranteed broadband speed (13mb max vs 39). This allows me to cancel my contract but first I need an engineer visit. They did a line test today and told me it was 38Mb. Waaaahahahahahaha no it wasn't. The engineer visit is surely going to cost them more than the £144.

On top of our fluffball sadness (status:still sad), incredibly busy at work, furniture lifting and packing lethargy, this is all getting a bit on top of us. DS has also taken to waking up mega early (seemingly ravenous) and last night woke in the night which isn't normal. So tiredness is extreme. I am feeling v sorry for myself yet realise it's all minor in the grand scheme of things; so also feel a bit self absorbed.:o Sigh.
