Hey hun
Just wanted to stop by and say hi. I've been so terrible lately and have pretty much neglected my diary. Oh well!
Glad to hear you're still keeping on going. I absolutely love your idea of changing the attic into a playroom for littley, complete with reading nook. I'd love one of them myself! You should totally share some before and after pictures with us, I'd love to see how you do with it.
Take care xx0 -
Hello lovely! I've missed you!!
Today I went and spent a bit of money that I shouldn't really have spent but it's for the playroom so it's really ok - plus I got some good deals.
I've got some plain white wallpaper and a border to put up. The wallpaper is literally bog standard lining type paper but was only £4.48 and will do the job well. The border was on clearance and so I got that for half price. I then saw a light shade that was on offer for £3 so I got that too. I have some tables that I thought could do with a lick of paint so I got some tester pots of 3 different colours - blue, pink and yellow - and these actually tie in with the border and shade. Something I hadn't even checked in the shop.
I then went and collected a chair I'd found on Freegle. First time I ever used the site and I got a right bargain. I've seen a chair similar on ebay for £50 so I'm extremely chuffed with it. It's got dark wooden arms & legs though so I'll be sanding those down and painting them the same blue as one of the tables.
I then thought I should get some blinds for the window. It's one of those rubbish velux ones where you either get a blind that doesn't really fit or pay a fortune. I found a table runner in the right shade of blue for £1.99 so got 2 of those plus some curtain wires and will put those up. Should work!
All in all I've spent just over £35 and got all of the above plus a chair. Can't complain!
Oh, and mum came with me and so bought Littley 2 cushions to go with the room which actually works well with the colours and she also bought me a "family rules" wall ornament that I liked as a thank you to the both of us for being so wonderful. Happy days!
Just got to get the energy to do it now!! Have a good eveningxx

That all sounds amazing. I can't believe you got all that for £35 - what a thrift wizard you are! It's going to look amazing when you're done I bet - a right proper "60 Minute Makeover" type
Does Littley know about it or is it going to be a total surprise to her?
Aww, nice of you to miss meI'm still around, kind of. I've been checking in from time to time, just haven't really had anything to update my own diary with since I've fallen a bit off the MSE wagon (don't worry, debt numbers are still going down not up.. just at a slower pace!)
I have started a proper blog recently though so maybe we could keep in touch that way if you like? I'll drop you the address in a PM if you want!
Have a great dayxx

Morning hon
Yes Littley does know what's going on. We've cleared the whole place out now and got a huge amount of rubbish in the kitchen waiting for me to sort out to do a car boot this weekend - I hope! She's begging me to start wallpapering today but it's movie day today so we're off to see Pudsey (thanks to our 241 tickets obvs!).
I'd love to see your blog so PM me the link and I'll take a look.
Have a great day!xx

Evening all
Well, yesterday I decided to do the playroom up for Littley and omg do I hurt for it now!! I've virtually moved every piece of furniture in my house and put it somewhere else. However, this means we now have a playroom upstairs with a little reading nook for Littley, a sitting room back to how I like it, a dining room (with my own reading nook!) a bedroom that's clear and has a wardrobe and a porch that you can't get into as it's full of car boot stuff all ready to go do the car boot tomorrow.
Only I found out earlier that the car boot we do doesn't happen on a sunday any more so we're not doing one tomorrow now. Which is probably just as well as I spent nearly 9 hours rearranging the house yesterday (including lugging 4 heavy cupboards up the narrowest of stairs on my own) then got up super early today as we had guests coming so I am totally shattered and ache like hell. Still, it's a happy tired so it's ok.
This does leave the question of where the hell to put a porch worth of stuff for the next week! Fortunately I'd got most of the washing done as the machine's behind at the stuff but as we're going away for a few days towards the end of the week I need to get to it. I think it's going to be a week of moving boxes in and out each day - fun!
Ah well, Littley's finally soundo and I'm just catching up with a few things on here then I'm going to hit the sack.
Have a good Sunday everyonexx

Morning all
Hope you all had a good weekend.
Just updated my £5 a day challenge and it's gone down a bit but there's a good reason. I've withdrawn some money to update our tent as we're going camping for a few days and our tent had a hole in it. I've patched it up over the last 2 years but last year it got bad. I didn't really want to spend the money as it was for the Aussie trip but the tent was 50% off so I got a really good deal. I'm also getting my discounted Friends & Family rail card (thanks to MSE earlier deal) today so when we get the train to Heathrow next year we can save a huge sum on our fares.
Nothing much else has happened so not much else to say. Oh, I finally after 12 years managed to find a friend of mine in Australia which is awesome! And the best bit is he is still friends with the other 2 people I've been trying to trace so I'm now in contact with them and we're all going to meet up when I'm over. To say I'm excited is an understatement!
Have a great week everyonexx

Hiya sassy,
Just wanted to say well done with the loft playroom, great money saving and creative ideas xx
I love that you both have reading nooks slightly jealous, can I come round with my kindle
I wouldn't worry about using the money from the pot for the tent at least it was on special offer and a not full priced one.
Great news on finding long lost friends too even more to look forward to when your out there xx3rd LBM July 2014: Debt [STRIKE]£31,416.68[/STRIKE] Down To: [STRIKE] £23,403.43[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]15th July: £25,709.83[/STRIKE] 26th March: £31,229.68

Hey hon
The playroom has been such a success it's unreal. Littley loves it so much. The reading nooks are awesome too, really comfy and mine is big enough for Littley to snuggle up next to me. Yes you can bring your kindle but there may not be enough room for you too! lol
We're off on our 2 night camping today which was announced by rain this morning. Typical. Whenever we go camping it's glorious sunshine for weeks before then rains when we're getting ready. Maybe I should just stop going
Have a great day and go cut that cc up!xx

Hi hon
Well done on cutting the cc up! Such a big milestone so you must be feeling really chuffed with yourself. I have been reading your updates and you're doing so well.
Holiday was fab. We always have the best time where we go and the last few years we've invited Littley's bestie and her family too so it was even better. With regard to staying dry, literally 5 mins after we had set up we had the biggest thunder storm I've seen in ages! It lasted a good half hour and because of the location the thunder sounded like it was on surround-a-sound! The next day was beautiful sunshine though so can't complain. It's such a beautiful location that it doesn't really matter what the weather is tbh.
Was supposed to be doing a car boot today but the forecast said the weather was going to be bad so decided against it. Got up and it was raining so right decision made. Have shoved the dvds & wii games on a 5-day ebay listing so anything not sold by Friday will go in the boot sale Sunday.
I'm a bit short of cash this month as I got a bit carried away and thought I had some extra cash then realised I'd actually underpaid my mortgage (I pay 2 monthly sums to ensure I don't spend it!) so am having to put the extra in next month's money. I also thought a meal out on holiday would be nice but ended up spending a heck of a lot more than I normally would on a meal. It was bl**dy lovely though! This means atm I have no money come the end of September so hopefully lots of mullah will come from the boot sale. I'm also going for lots of contracts. Just need one or two to come through and life will be comfy again!
Anyhoo, must go as got to drag Littley's behind to the supermarket (much to her disgust!) and get some food in.
Have a nice day chickxx
