Given a default by O2, are they correct?

You don't know they didn't send the bill, you only know you didn't see one.

When you did get caught by the DCA you didn't pay in full, you paid by instalments

As this happened in 2011 why wait the 3 years to bring it up now, it would have been better to address the issues at the time rather than waiting till now to do it.

I'm bringing it up now because it's dated 2012 and I've just checked my experian file and was shocked that he had defaulted, shocked that I'm classed as still owing £71 when the full £314 was cleared and that like another O2 user has said I didn't receive any calls texts reminders, because as I said I didn't get any bill in the post. How was I to know that my online O2 account would still be open when the account was now closed, why tell me it's gonna be in the post and not send it. When the bill arrived it was paid, if it gets defaulted after 30 days as another forum user said I'm screwed. If the debt gets sold to a dca , o2 should show it as settled then as they have received money for that debt and then I'm paying back dca.

They told me they don't text closed accounts or dead people for that matter ...it would seem in this case they didn't text the OP either ;)

Do they do anything ?? Seems not . Like an O2 user said , her son was bombarded with calls

Again, trying to pass the blame to 02. You were told you owed approx. £315, you were sent a bill (which you claim you didn't receive), you then didn't pay the full outstanding amount in one go, you paid in installments, therefore you defaulted!!!

Her son was "bombarded" with calls to a landline at work - not his mobile.

You defaulted on a debt of £315, didn't check your email address where they had sent all previous bills and then when they tracked you down you didn't repay the amount in one go.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Why are you now talking in the third person, I thought it was was you so who is "he" ?

You need to ask them what the £71 relates to. I've seen it where a similar amount is shown as owing for a missed couple of months and then a larger amount added when they closed the account due to non payment. As you claim it was yourself who chose to close the account and not a forced closure then you need to ask what it's for.
The £314 should still show as a default for 6 years but should show as cleared.

    Don't be silly :rotfl:
If it reaches the stage of having to sell it off it's sold for about 1p in the £1, that would mean they would get £3.14p for your debt which doesn't even come close to settling the debt so it would still show as a default.
It's not just about the money

When I worked for Orange, I am sure if an account was sent to DCA, the DCA added 10% 'fees'.

Is O2 showing the default or is it from the DCA?

Op at the end of the day you new that you owed the last payment you should of left your DD running and made sure you left the money in your bank then O2 would have took it and may be you wouldn't be in this mess...the default is on your credit file now and I can't see any way you can remove it

I left Orange about 5mths ago and my dd is still setup just in-case some thing like has happened to me

1, if they take any money I have a good chance of getting it back
2, They can't say they tried to take money but it wasn't there
3, If done properly there's no need for them to go to my DD again.
Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.

I'd never checked before, I had SMS billing enabled on my account also.

And had you given O2 any other phone number for you?
