Hiring Van - out of date photo license questions...

Options
Ok so I have a mate who can help me with hiring a van only his license is out of date (the photo part & it's 4 years out of date!) ... He has never had any points disqualifications etc... So as long as he has the counter part he may be ok?

Thanks :) x

  • No body will hire to him. Also when caught, he could be fined £1000.
  • Thanks... How about if he applied for a new photo part today? x

Yes - hire companies don't like folks who haven't got a valid photo licence.

Like everyone else - he just needs to renew it.
  • If you need to hire any time in the next 3 weeks, you better find someone else.

I used an out of date pic for 3 years before I got round to changing it, during that time I was stopped by the police and he just advised me to get it renewed, no fine.

If he has a current passport ten the DVLA may allow him to do it online.

I changed my address with the DVLA last Wednesday over the phone and received a new photocard on Monday just gone

I doubt they will notice & if they do I can't see why it would prevent him hiring, he's still got a valid entitlement to drive.

If you are the one who wants to hire a van then why aren't you doing it on your own driving license?
