Not been asked for proof of NCD

When I moved to Admiral 12 months ago, I wasn't asked to provide proof of NCD. My renewal notice this year shows the correct NCD. Could they still ask for proof, perhaps in the case of a claim?

Yes.
Your proof is the latest letter from them!!0 -

Yes they can ask, no you cannot use their own letter.
Different insurers do different checks, some check all by asking paperwork to be sent at point of purchase, some check by contacting your old insurers on your behalf, some only check at the point of claim. Some will also change their approach depending on what is on CUE.
Obviously if you were to go elsewhere then Admirals letter would be proof to your new insurers despite it having not been checked (as far as you know, it may have been checked directly though)0 -
But could they still ask for proof of NCD at the start of my current policy 12 months ago? (Which I'm not sure I could locate)
Ask your previous insurer for a copy if you intend remaining with an admiral company (bearing in mind from your previous thread regarding the NIP if it results in a SAC they are (currently) the only insurer requiring disclosure of a SAC)0 -

So you could be with an insurer for several years, then have a claim and be faced with a demand for proof of NCD from several years previously?0 -
It's possible - when you take out a policy with a company not routinely wanting your proof you will find a requirement for you to produce the proof if required in the future.0

Yes, in theory, in practice they may also contact your prior insurer on your behalf and they will factor in other elements such as CUE, fraud scorecard score, length of having been a customer etc. 20 years on they wont be asking for it. 3 years on with a couple of claims on CUE, a number of other fraud concerns etc and they may well be.0 -
Now that I think about it, I've probably changed insurers at least ten times and I don't remember ever having to provide proof.0

They will sometimes ask who your previous insurer were maybe the policy number also.
I think they need a proper database where your licence and insurance and vehicles owned are all together.
So when you get points or a course its automatically logged. No need to ask you the question.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

You got the £200m to pay for this and integrate it to every insurer/ intermediary etc? Gives no competitive to anyone and so fairly unlikely to happen without a legislative pressure to do it0
