vanquis, account locked!!

Please please help!
I opened up a vanquis account last year and have recently saved enough to be able to pay the account off. I tried paying the remaining balance with my debit card, the one they have on the account for direct debit payments and it didn't work (no idea why it didn't), so I tried paying for it with my partners card instead - that all went through fine.
I try to get on my account over the weekend and find its been locked, so I ring vanquis this morning only to be told they want a photocopy of the debit card and a bank statement, in the post?!
Firstly they never notified my the account was blocked, I asked if I was being charged interest whilst it's "blocked" and the answer was yes!!
My partner is a bit concerned about sending details like that in the post - when I spoke to them I said I can pay with the debit card they already have on file and explained I'd already tried to and they quickly shut me down.
I have no idea what to do as I'm really not happy about sending those details in the post, and then waiting even longer to close the account which they are still charging me interest for!!
Any help would be seriously appreciated, the customer care team or whatever on the phone were awful and I'm actually sat in tears as I'm writing this, they were no help whatsoever!!

However, for both methods you normally are allowed to block the non-essential information like most transactions in the statement and some digits in the middle of the card number.0 -
After reading about these sharks the last couple of weeks on here, I'd never touch Vanquis with a 70 foot barge pole!... Too many issues, never had an issue with Capital One and always found them very helpful.0
