And when they bring out a new version of the OS they kick the old one into the wilderness. Windows phone has missed the boat, too little too late. Unless Microsoft get their finger out and incentivise / coerce app producers, especially for the current popular commercial apps, I fear it will be going the same way as Blackberry but with a shorter lifespan. I am currently a W7.8 user and think my Lumia is a great rugged phone .......... until I see the app ads "available on iPhone and Android". The system also has loads of "quirks" that Microsoft, in typical Microsoft know all fashion, refuse to acknowledge are important to sort.

Windows Phone is on the rise. That's why I wouldn't be too worried about buying a Lumia.

It's on the rise because it's market share is so low the only way it can go is up ;)

It is a nice OS, though.

Stephen Elop, who ran Nokia into the ground is now in charge at Microsoft mobile phones, so I wouldn't put much faith in Windows phones.

Also, why did Nokia put "The latest forecast is not available" as a note on their weather app, instead of service 'ceased/abandoned'. Doesn't Nokia/Microsoft have a weather service and maps for their Windows phones?

Once bitten, twice shy. No more Nokia.

Agreed, I love the OS but MS need to up their game or they will go the same way as Blackberry, you can not just carry on thinking you are the best without innovating and forcefully trying to beat the competition.

EU market share by OS. On a plus point both Android and WP8 are stealing custom from IOS http://www.latinopost.com/articles/3205/20140116/ios-vs-android-market-share-europe-top-5-markets.htm

In the US smart phone sales by brand Nokia are relegated into "others" and not named individually with a reduced market share. http://www.dazeinfo.com/2014/01/19/apple-inc-aapl-smartphones-market-us-q4-2013/
