They could actually. Depending exactly what was asked they may well be quoting prices for tyres they don't physically have in stock as well, and would order them in as needed if you wanted them.

You have probably found this from your research, but tyres of the same model and size also commonly come in different speed ratings - if you and your husband didn't specify this to be the same this could also generate price differences of the sort you have found.

Mmm... forgot about the speed ratings and buying them in.

I find that my wife can usually get better prices than I can.

Yesterday they had brand X in stock then sold out so today they are offering brand Y.

Or his price was +vat or + valve etc.

    Let's hope they're suitable then.

May i politely suggest you don't feed the troll, it only encourages them.

Tyre buying via local suppliers can vary by who answers the phone at the depot, you could have two people answering calls simultaneously and both giving different prices on identical products.

Funny you should say that. I had no idea about tyres so I used my intelligence to research the different types and made a decision based on my findings.

    Tryes for X car
    tyres in X size
    tyres in X size/X brand
or specifically ask for the model of tyre you wanted?

I found that either Black Circles or Tyre Shopper were cheaper than going direct to any garage or tyre fitment company. National Tyre wanted almost £20 more per tyre than Tyre Shopper plus I got cashback from TCB.
I used http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/ to get an opinion on specific models of tyres.
