Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in. Everyone is welcome here.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - over budget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good Luck Everyone

My budget this week is £40. I hope my week's spending will be like this:
    - Sun - NSD
    - Mon - NSD
    - Tues - NSD (groceries already budgeted for)
    - Weds - NSD (going out for coffee but I'll be using m&s coffee vouchers so hoping I won't be tempted to shop while I'm there!)
    - Thurs - NSD
    - Fri - lunch out £20
    - Sat - £20 either for lunch out or possibly contribution to takeaway

Thanks for the new thread, ETO!

Hope everyone has a good week :).

Hi can I join this challenge please?
I would like to pledge £58 please for the week - it seems an odd amount but that's all I had (this morning) in my purse and I'm determined not to get anything out again until payday as I have no reason to at all! We have loads of food and groceries in and I'm working all week.
I have already spent £40/£58 as I am working away tomorrow so needed petrol in my car and thought I'd better fill it plenty!
    My plans for the week:

Sun - £40 petrol (already spent)
Mon - NSD - meals planned
Tue - NSD - working all day - meals planned
Wed - NSD working short shift - meals planned
Thurs - a small £3 for DD dancing class & 60p for a brew for me
Fri - NSD - meals planned
Sat - could be a SD as we are off to a party so might need drink

    :)
fingers crossed it all goes to plan! Good Luck everyone! :j

    Hello ETO and everyone,

A big fat RED week for me last week. I have nothing to show for it either as a takeaway and night out were my downfall.

So, to make amends and to act as penace I pledge a zero spend for this week. I do have an outing on Saturday but this is planned and so budgeted for elsewhere.

    I'm in please!

    Today: NSD
Tomorrow: Dentist but that's already budgeted for. I might get some shoes reheeled though so that would cost some money. I have no idea how much shoe reheeling costs though :o
Tuesday: Pub Quiz :D Sticking to soft drinks.
    Wednesday: no plans yet
    Thursday: no plans
    Friday: no plans

I will probably need to get milk/bread/fruit through the week, so that shouldn't be more than £10.

I'm going to aim for £30 for the week on that basis.

    Hi,

I would like to join again please! Need to get back on the wagon and stop spending money I don't have. I've got food in for the week so shouldn't need to buy anything at all..

    Plan for this week is:

    Sun - NSD
    Mon - £1 for my nan's husband's bday card
    Tues - NSD
    Wed - NSD
    Thu - NSD
Fri - bf coming round, £2 for "film snacks"
    Sat - NSD

Can I put down £5 for the week, I don't think that £3 is realistic so giving myself a contingency...
