Nationwide moaning because I haven't used my card

  • and since you shop at Asda,

I never said we shop at Asda.

We go there occasionally not all the time.

Not everyone wants a different credit card for each shop they shop in.

I already have six credit cards don't need another one.

  • I'm still trying to figure out whether to use my Capital One credit card for everything.

Just that my wife likes getting Tesco points for shopping in Asda.:rotfl:

I use my Cap 1 credit card for as much spending as possible and have just received £290 cashback in my latest statement (1% on all purchases). :j

Can't understand why you don't ditch the NW card though and use Halifax Clarity for purchases abroad which doesn't get cashback but doesn't incur charges either so would probably be a cheaper option.

Really? It was kinda inferred on your first post.

Hence my suggestions to use an Asda credit card for your shopping in Asda.

If you don't actually shop in Asda (or go there rarely) then yes, no need to get an Asda credit card.

The Nationwide select card has no fees or charges for foreign purchases.

They have dropped my credit limit to £500 because of non use and from time to time threaten to close it if I don't make a transaction.
  • use Halifax Clarity

Because when I applied for one a while back I ended up with an "ordinary" credit card.

Some of us don't meet the criteria, I don't think they want OAPs with only pensions for income.

How did you apply? You can only get one by applying in branch, otherwise you only get the "ordinary" credit card.

If you buy from amazon, look at their card as pays more than the tesco
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I know, problem is there are no Halifax branches left in Scotland at least near where I stay.

My wife uses her Tesco credit card for shopping, mostly in Tesco, sometimes in Asda or Lidl or Aldi or WH Smith or other shops.

It is her credit card, I only pay the bill.

For all the rest of our spending, I use my Capital One card.

This sure has gone off topic from my original post.

Interesting post, I havne't used my Nationwide for a year now as I'm paying off a BT at 0%

I guess I will need to start using it once the BT is cleared. However my Cap One only pays 0.5% so there is no advantage to using it over Nationwide

Unfortunately my NWide credit limit is £5000 which means a reduction may happen sooner or later, any big spends like that will go on Amex
