Dover to Calais P&O Ferry

Were going to DLP in the half term and im looking at ferries for dover to calais. Theres currently a deal on with P&O for £23 day return with 6 bottles of wine thrown in however im staying in France for 5 days. I am thinking of booking two day returns and using the Outbound Dover - Calais leg from the first only and then the return Calais - Dover leg from the second as a one way ticket is currently £39 so it would be cheaper to book two of the day trips rather than one day trip and one single.
One question though, do you have to pick up tickets for the return leg with P&O when you sail out on the correct day with these daytrip offs, i dont want to be stuck in calais with 3 screaming kids and the wife with no ticket back!
I believe the wine offer is dependent on picking up the voucher in dover so i know i'll only get to use one of these for the outbound trip although i was going to ask the check in man if hed give me one for the return journey if i showed him the second booking.

Won't work - they are wise to this sort of thing. Even for the outbound - if you check the T&Cs they'll probably say something like they'll charge you more if you don't come back (whether they will and how is a different matter - they may say they'll charge the card you used for the payment if you paid by card).
The return definitely won't work if you didn't use the outbound.0 -
The wine offer is picked up at Dover, and you pick up the wine on the outboard crossing.
However, I wouldn't risk doing two day returns, they are wise too it.The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -

They do indeed charge you more. I know someone who tried this, and ended up paying quite a bit more to get home from France. They catch you on the return trip. You cannot use your booking to board, nor will you get a refund or credit, and you will have to pay the full one way fare at the rate it would be on the day before you will be allowed to board.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

Have you looked at DFDS instead? They often have special offers online and are also on Quidco for a bit of cashback I think.
We use them every year (usually to Dunkirk but I know they also sail to Calais) and the ships are just as nice as P&O in my opinion.0 -
Just to let you all know the Mail day/overnight offer is back on. Went over last Sat for £15, could have stopped the night for an extra £2. Free bottle of Piat d'or too. Details below.

The offer from P&O for £23 with 6 bottles of wine might be better if you like wine. Was chuffed to get a Saturday afternoon return for £15. I can only really go on a saturday now and they usually add a fiver on for Sat travel. Free wi-fi on the 2 new boats too.0 -
I've used the wifi on the Spirit of Britain/Spirit of France, quite handy to pass the time (when it's calm though). Always pick up the wine as tend to use the wine offer.
Good news about the Saturday too, and you normally do pay more. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -
I'm guessing the captain was busy on Facebook too

P&O Offer
Thank you for this! I've just booked the overnight return for £17 for next week. Very happy as it's half term and includes a bottle of wine! I'm being brave and driving up to Bruges for the night. I have no experience of driving further than cite Europe so I hope I'll be ok.0
