Thistlewhistle 2014 - A Fresh Start

Hi Thistle, hopefully a new client will come through the door and make the numbers attractive next week, instead of this.
Food tasting sounds fun for the group. Mine doesn't do anything like that at all. Maybe I'll suggest it - any excuse for a spot of cooking.
Sleep well and good luck tomorrow

Morning all - what a beautiful morning!
Well I've just woken up and I'm totally refreshed. Recently I've been waking and been so weary, but not this morning. Bright eyed and bushy-tailed. Not surprising after 9 hours sleep.
I was reading that study on good sleeping patterns and one of the things it mentioned was light levels. I sleep with my blinds open anyway as my house backs onto a field and it's pitch black so I love sleeping "under the moon and stars". Naturally, as dawn comes, the light levels rise gradually so when I wake, it's gentle and much better.
Anyway, I've promised myself that I'll get to bed as early as I can for the next week to see if it helps me. I'm also trying not to eat too heavily late on (although I have to have something after I get in from groups at 22:00. Sometimes it can be 02:00 / 03:00 before I settle down to sleep. Not good. Need more 22:30 / 23:00 bedtimes.
Long day today - it's group day. The whole of SW is collecting old clothes for cancer research and my shed is bursting with about 120 bags of members old clothes that they've slimmed out of. Last year we raised nearly £1m so we're hoping to beat this. My 120 bags should raise a whopping £3600 which is amazing. And the bags are still coming!!
Right, time to start the day. Step 1 - plan group!

It's the 15th so time for the Thistle mid-month shuffle.
Expenses have been paid and team earnings received so the allocation of funds begins.
Paid a bit more off the CC too (£25) and storing up funds in the to pot for July - need £3,100:eek::eek::eek:
Spends out of control a little so need to reign myself in a bit. Don't think I'm quite down to the £3 Tilly has in her grocery fund though, although might not be far off!!

Well my colleagues and I have just loaded the equivalent of 500 Cancer Research Donation bags worth of donated clothes onto the Cancer Research Van from all the SW groups on my Team.
At £30 / bag average, that's £15,000 raised in the last two weeks!!
So proud of the Team's hard work and a great editorial opportunity in the local paper.

Morning,
Just checked my budget last night and I've overspent on a few categories. This is entirely down to not looking at the spreadsheet often enough. I'm at £208 grocery spends against the budget of £200 with 10 days still to go!!!
However, I have had to buy long term items like washing powder and lavatory tissue! These last me ages.
Off to run my lovely group today. We're doing our Man of the Year competition with a taster evening so that'll be te cooked for me!! My members love these and some mke more thn one dish to bring. The role grins under the weight of all that SW food. It's awesome!!!
I have a huge advertising bill of £1200 to pay by end of May, £150 of which is allocated to me. All but one of the consultants on my team have coughed up so the money is in my S123 a/c until it's paid.
I'm still not out of the woods yet - my first goal is to get to the point where, when I add everything up, accounts and CCs, everything, I stay in the black all month. Not quite there yet. Maybe £1,500 earnings off. Hopefully that'll occur by end of June.
Extra earnings this week - covering a friends group for the next two weeks - that's £180. Running a Saturday group and being paid for that (I thought I wouldn't be as it's on relief).
All looking good!
Have a good day everyone.

I don't want to know how you make your lavatory paper last for ages :eek::eek:
:rotfl::rotfl: Reminded me of my aunty telling me that my uncle was horrified at the amount of loo paper she used when they were in the bathroom together one time (let's not go there!!!) - she was apparently far too profligate with her use of said paper - he only ever used 4 sheets - turning them over if necessary....:eek:I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200
