Thistlewhistle 2014 - A Fresh Start

Morning,
What a busy weekend. Had to take some time off MSE to fit everything in!
Anyway, I'm back now!
The cash situation is righting itself slowly, and I think that once I've paid off£90 to a colleague for some leaflets to promote my group, I'll be debt free apart from my £2,250 CC and the mortgage. April has been a slog but thankfully it's a five week month (5 Wednesdays - my group is a Wednesday group) so that helps.
My spending diary continues to be enlightening - full report next Thursday!
Moving forward, I've been authorised to earn on a Tuesday relief group which I cover regularly, which is a huge help, although there's a Tuesday group on my team needed a new consultant and with it not having lots of members in it, the earnings off it are small so my team are reluctant to cover it. It needs a good promotion doing on it, but I just don't have time at the moment.
I've accepted some group cover to help out a colleague over May & June which is worth £360 to me so that'll help as I need to have saved £3100 for my July tax bill. I'm nowhere near at the moment so it's all hands to the pumps - grab it where you can!!!
I'm directing all the earnings from these relief groups to the tax cause (£750 per month) which is huge!!! Still, I can only do my best.
Seriously aiming to submit my 2013/4 accounts as early as possible so I'll
know what my January tax bill will be well in advance. It never ends.
Right, off to face the day......after a coffee of course. It's group night tonight so it'll be a long but rewarding day!

Oh bother,
I'm a couple of days behind on my spending diary updates because of an extra, unplanned stay at OH's. I forgot to bring my computer. Hope I'll remember what I've spent!
OH is looking for a new role which would involve a house move for him - his house comes with his job! It'll be the same distance from my house but in a different direction. The move would be geographically perfect for him as pot holing and caving is a passion of his and the new role is right on the edge of Ingleborough.
As usual, he's talking himself out of it - logging all the reasons why he won't get the role. I could seriously bash him sometimes!!! He's always telling me off for doing that myself!

Calamity of calamities.
I think I might need a new boiler. Just as I was starting to get back on my feet.
Fed up!

Oh no Thistle, do you think you could qualify for any help towards it?
I checked up on this - no joy alas.
My issue is that I sort of want a new kitchen and would have wanted to do the lot together for cosmetic purposes.
However, latest boiler news is that it's working again. OH managed a shower last night. So maybe it's not broken at all, just an intermittent fault. I'll call Paul the Boilerman and get him to come and look. That'll be £50 though.
Starting a Boiler replacement savings fund. It's got £2.41 in it at the moment! Enough for an "On/Off" switch? :rotfl:Mortgage at end 05/2007: £90200

Bought a huge leg of pork from S@insburys last evening - half price of course. Making SW BBQ pulled pork in the slow cooker.
1.5/2kg Leg / Shouder of pork (all fat removed)
5 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 big dollop of whole grain mustard
Tin of chopped tomatoes
3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
Big dollop of lazy garlic
3 tbsp sweetener
Salt & freshly ground pepper
Chuck all ingredients in slow cooker, turn on, come back in 12 hours
Total cost will be less than £15 - will do us at least 8 meals if we eat lots of veg with it.
Can smell it already.....only 11 hours, 3 minutes to go.Mortgage at end 05/2007: £90200

Hi Thistle, dinner sounded lovely
. Do you buy the pork with the bone/without? I quite fancy trying that.
Glad to hear the boiler is working, even if it may or be permanently sorted.
What are you up to over the long weekends.
