Thistlewhistle 2014 - A Fresh Start

Hello there everyone, :hello::hello::hello:
Here I am again, fulfilling my New Year's Promise to get back onto the forum and knuckle down to some serious saving.:T
I've started a brand new diary as I'm feeling that as it's a new year, it should be a completely new start. For me, 2013 was quite a good year as I made some serious inroads into clearing off some old, stubborn debts but I've just been landed with a big tax bill for January 31st and, I'll be honest, I've made a bit of hay whilst the sun has been shining and "forgotten" to put enough by for Mr Taxman:eek: (I know - one cardinal rule, spectacularly broken), but then we are where we are, so it's a case of where do we go from here?
Answer? Back to the forum where the support is endless and the judgement is non-existent.
Primary goal: Scrape together the cash to pay my tax by 31/01/2014
Secondary goal: Pay off credit cards once and for all
Tertiary goal: Clear mortgage by 23rd December 2021 (50th birthday):eek:
Quaternary goal: Lose 29lb by Easter
Please feel free to drop by - it's good to talk!!!
So here goes.......
Wish me luck!!!

Phew! I think I've just about managed to scrape together enough money to pay my tax bill - which I'll do tomorrow because I'm working from home all day and can really knuckle down and get it sorted.
I might have to put some of it onto a credit card :eek: just for a few days whilst I do some juggling. I'm owed £1000 from a customer which has not been forthcoming just yet so this might need a chase!
Doing some relief groups at the moment so that's bringing in a few extra pennies. Just want to clear the decks a bit, do some reconciling and some consolidation so I can see what I'm truly up against. By Friday, I should have it sorted.

Great goal end date. That's my end date goal as well (also my birthday, just not quite my 50th)
Looking forward to keeping up with your journey.0 -
Hi thistlewhistle and well done on the new diary, amazing what a fresh start can do isn't it!
the tax thing is a bit of a pain but sounds like you have got it sorted fairly quickly and it's not the disaster it could have been
Whats a 'relief group' please? X
