I also experienced a cup of tea, erm, downstairs  Now that was an embarassing diary post...
Posted my concern on your diary  ow ow ow .... No 1 on the list of "things no man should have to bear"!
As regards investing at this point, you need to be clear about your risk tolerance, your goals and when you will need each of your pots to come into play. Generally speaking tho, if it's money that you need to live on, you should be taking some risk off the table as you go. I recommend reading up on sequence of returns risk.
I'd not even heard of that :o so thats a good one, thanks, very important for the future. I was thinking more of asset allocation, moving assets to less risky classes of investment the nearer I approach to retirement. I did take 10 minutes yesterday to transfer the list of pension-focussed assets from a piece of paper to a little spreadsheet :D big deal, hey :D though seriously it'll give me the chance to update things much more easily, and keep them in one place too. I aim for the paperless office, by the time I retire.

I'm not going to London to see the new flat today :( I had a shoulder operation a few years ago, and I got a sudden flare-up last night. Taken with general lack of oomph, it means travel is a no-no right now :( though I spoke to my sister this morning and she feels lurgified too, so I'm not sure how long she'll stay up there either :(

So today is a pootling day - I need to use the hedge trimmer I've borrowed by next weekend, but I doubt my shoulder will cope with that for long, or I might actually make the quince jelly that needs to be made, or plant something and wash some flowerpots. Or just sit at the computer: now that I've listed the pension investments, I should find out whats cash and whats gilts/stock market. I also need to know which of the home-taped Stargate episodes I have are on bad DVDs, so I can buy cheap replacements on ebay :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: the sainted Daniel Jackson needs me :D

I'm having trouble coping without my evening dose of Jack O'Neill! He's not in the series that's currently running on Pick and those two from Farscape are just plain annoying!:D

RT  oh no! A difference of opinion amongst science fiction fans is A Bad Thing :o but for me, RDA took the whole jokey thing way too far, and then he phoned it in, as the saying goes, and he lost me :o:o:o I'm so sorry!

And I quite like Vala  but I really **do** agree with you (thank heavens :p) about Mitchell ... the producers seem to have a real problem finding male characters we can empathise with: Mitchell puts Our Team in danger constantly, and he knows it - some great fanfic on this! - and don't get me started on Quinn: who thought introducing a new team member by having him betray the previous team member was a good idea? See how well that went!

There's a lot of pent-up science-fictionness that doesn't often get let out to play :rotfl: apologies all, normal service now resumed :j

How's all that studying and writing going, RT?

Okay, good communications :D :kisses3: I confess, I never watched MacGyver till it was well over, and only ever saw a few eps - hardly ever watched tv at one period in my life... I like what I see of McGyver tho :)

Don't work too hard over the weekend - we all need time off. Speaking of which, I need to get out there and breathe some fresh air - there's hardly been any rain, which is a change recently, so I might even be able to walk on the grass. See you soon xx

How was the walk KC? Any bits of foraging done while enjoying the fresh air? I'm loving your balance these days between work/home/future planning - always happy to hear you say 'enough' and then know you've done something to keep the balance in check!

Don't worry I've taken my rest this weekend - most of yesterday was spent sleeping, sitting on my butt while on-line grocery shopping and watching Jurassic Park (again)! Tomorrow (extended weekend) will be studying & then the second exam, followed by a roast chicken dinner & apple pie - it's Thanksgiving where I hail from - one of the loveliest days of the year - think Christmas without the hype & minus the family squabbles!:D

Thanks hon! To be honest, I'd like to be out visiting a lot more, and out in the evening more too - but my energy levels won't currently allow it. Still, I'll do the best I can with what I've got :D speaking of which, I didn't go for a walk, but I *did* spend an hour in the garden. I tried to get the on-loan-to-me hedgetrimmer to work, and I couldn't - it fired up, and then stopped, over and over. Possibly I haven't got the battery charged up enough, so I'll try again on Tuesday. So the hour in the garden was spent doing the hedgetrimming manually - slower, but a lot surer :D about 10' of ivy has had a proper haircut :rotfl:

There was foraging too - collecting the quince. I'm free this afternoon, and all it needs is to be briefly washed, then chopped up, simmered and drained, so I can do that :j

Awww :rudolf: sounds lovely (thats a friendly dinosaur from Jurassic Park, by the way :D). Thanksgiving does sound lovely, and not the same commercial hype as Christmas.

Today, I have a list in the diary - of course :) - its fit for the rest of the month, not just today, so I think I'd better resort to ta-da lists - there's about 15 items, including my accounts, though I've got some paid work in an hour, and that takes precedence, natch.

    Laterz, doodz.
