I'm sure thats mist, Cheery, you'd be puffing and panting if t'were smog, I think. Down here, the Beeb says its pollution thats been pulled in from Europe by an atmospheric low, but after the storm that *also* tracked through from the south, its gone - I think we've just got mist now :) which I like :)

Just had a *good* financial convo with my sister about future plans ... while acknowledging how tough it is for so many people. She's popping over to loan me her hedge cutter, so thats £60 - £70 I don't have to spend, and fewer resources taken from the planet, for a piece of machinery thats only used twice a year. Win-win-win.

That frees me up from researching hedge trimmers :D so I can pop along to the town next door and have a play in the craft section of the Wilko shop, as well as stocking up on the boring stuff like bleach and suchlike. From Monday, its all steam ahead with finalising two little income streams in the next month, so they can grow and grow :j
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Hi there!

That's a bit of luck with the hedge trimmers. Most electrical garden implements are used a couple of times, and then languish in the shed or garage. It's such a waste of money and resources. We've got lots of clippers, trimmers, strimmers, blowers and things hanging around. I think some of them need to get sold now, we don't need them

Good luck with the new income streams

    Morning

Yep, the hedge trimmers are with me now - I'm not going to do it today, but I'll be charging them ready for tomorrow (just checked the weather, and its dry till then at least). She also brought some skiing wear for me to sell on ebay and we'll split it between us, and we went a bit of a walk - I showed her the farm at the local college, it has sheep and cows because this is actually a very rural county :):):)

Today is 2 pieces of paid work (got to do a bit of cleaning before that starts), and I have to pop over to the local post office to collect a parcelforce parcel - I suspect I've paid way more on postage than I needed to because the person sending it is a noob when it comes to all this, but at least I'll have it - a piece of electrickery assembly

I'm also going to have a play on swagbucks (literally - quite a few of my points have been earned by playing games, including "stegosaurus jump", where a dinosaur jumps over a canyon :rotfl: and a mad 3D version of mah jong). And a Waitrose crossword entry, why not

And so, on to the commitment for the next four weeks - writing my little booklet, and doing the design work for a cat silhouette. Lovely as it is to wander about the interweb looking at pictures of cats, I've got to get down to producing my own :D

  • Hope you can get into the Waitrose crossword competition, I couldn't over the weekend! (well I could get in, but when I tried to confirm my entry it went into DNS blackhole mode )

That just happened! My ISP came up with "unknown address" or something, grrr.

Thanks for the feedback - at least I know its their website, not me :)

I'm glad you've mentioned Swagbucks, as I've been curious about it.

When I've looked at the threads on here it always looks a bit complicated.

But, I imagine the idea is to collect points, to exchange for vouchers?

Do you find it worth doing?

I've been doing the surveys, but I'm getting a bit fed up with some. I was on One Poll this afternoon and did a twenty minutes survey and at the end of it, was told I'd already completed it! I wasn't impressed.

I'd be interested to hear what you think about it

I'm in two minds about swagbucks, to be honest, Goldie - I can run videos (10 for 3 points, or something!!!, tho they're only about a minute long) while I'm doing stuff in the office, and apparently you can have the radio on and earn points, daily this and that get another few, and literally playing single-player online games sometimes gets points. Using their search page randomly gains points, there are surveys (which don't seem to want anyone our age!) and using it like quidco too, to get points for shopping through their portal (which includes amazon). There was a great offer mentioned in Martin's newsletter this week, which makes this worthwhile for now (and those games are quite fun, I like the 3 I play :o ) and when I go back to matched betting, I'm hoping there'll be a few betting shops which have SB offers. They pay in good form - amazon and paypal, not money into the bank, which is much better. So we'll see.

I had 3 hours work today, plus cleaning-for-respectability's sake :rotfl: and collecting my parcel, so not as much done on the booklet research and the cats as I hoped, but the first stencil outline is almost finished, and the library book from the rare books section has finally been opened. And now I'm sitting with it, its fascinating.

Uh oh ... 11.45 ... off to bed. Night night, folks

    Update ...

Making a pattern for a stencil is *not* easy  I know, I know, nobody said it was :rotfl:I've now got *two* nearly done, so I'm getting there.

I'm also reading this library book of mine about emergencies in the UK - dear me, it reminds me why I was a protestor in the 1980s

Just had one hour of paid work today, which went very smoothly, and between that and the book and the stencils (and swagbucks in the background - they don't like me earning lots of points from playing their free games, thats for sure :rotfl: ) I'd had enough of fiddling about on the laptop, so I went to clear some of the strawberry plants - they don't produce *any* fruit, as I've let the runners just take over while I've been ill. And I'd like my herbs on the patio edge, thank you very much - 20 minutes weeding done, chives and primroses secured against rampant non-strawberry strawberries. Result
