Morning! Well, just ... apart from reading a few new threads, and catching up on stuff, today's going to be a write-off - I'm heading off to the town where I used to live, for an afternoon tea birthday party
so its a good reason to write off the day
I have some errands I need to do as I wend my way, but thats all (ooh, and putting some stuff into a local charity shop, hurray, decluttering!).
Hope everyone has a good day xxx2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Haybox cooker? Love it, that it very MSE :money:0

...How is your OH? House clearing can keep you busy and all that, but ...
Thanks for asking KC you are such a sweetie - he's doing OK actually - the necessary keeps him occupied - a TON of paperwork to do & not all of it easy. Funeral is on Wednesday, so at least there will be a sense closure that is currently missing....- amazon/ebay/gumtree...but they've been around for a long time, and I don't have the space...
I didn't give a thought to the fact that stuff up for sale might take a while to shift! Usually I put stuff on freecycle so it goes within a week, but do have items we've kept aside for selling...this definately requires a discussion with OH - might be worth taking to a consignment store just to shift it?... All I did was fire off a return email to the peeps that sent it ...
I did something similar to H&B the other day after an e-mail landed saying my package had been delivered (at work). The courier insisted he'd dropped it off to some guy at our address that he knew. When I asked who this someone was, they could not tell me, then had the cheek to say I'd have to wait seven days and fill in a form before receiving a replacement! Told them to refund my money & coupon so I could reorder - sigh - still no communication & still no product! I'll get back on them next week, but atm they've lost a loyal customer! KC what was your secret to getting quick customer service?4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Morning!
As for the quick customer service, RT, I think its just that the supermarkets are uber-competitive right now - and they probably think of a literate single person in SE England as being someone with a lot of disposable income :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: there's a "voice" I have in written terms that I call middle class snottyI've previously had an inspector of police call round to apologise to me and beg me to take a tour round the police station to see that they really do work hard, as opposed to telling off adults who dare to cross the road outside designated crossing points (which is what I'd complained about
).
Birthday tea was lovely - the idea for editing theses is via elance, quite simply, so I'll be looking at that, thats certainly a job that can be done from anywhere my laptop will get a connection. Shattered when I got home, and thought I was going to have trouble with the bus - it zoomed down a road new-to-me, and I think new-to-the-town - looks like its an access road to the hospital which has become a de-facto bypass, odd but interesting.
Anyway, today, not much mse going on **again** - RT, consignment stores? I don't think they exist in England, other than for designer label women's clothes. And I don't have any of those to sellbut I'm seriously considering dumping things that have been on Amazon before, for 6 months maybe, at a charity shop - nice books, lovely hardbacks, but I can't sell them at 1p because of postage.
I'm off out to play after I've had a runaround on the interweb, so I hope everyone has a good day, with a bit of fun in there as well2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Did you go on a tour of the police station? Bet it would have been quite exciting
We went round one with the Brownies when I was small and they took all our fingerprints and locked us in a cell! We were quite excited :rotfl:
Hope they didn't keep my fingerprints though!! :rotfl:
Enjoy your wanderings0 -
...As for the quick customer service...
sent off an  e-mail yesterday - needless to say they wrote back with an excuse - they've now lost a customer! & all down to using a cut-rate courier for the delivery!
...Birthday tea was lovely...
...happy to hear you enjoyed your outing - it's good to know you are out and about again!

...we've a few of those shops round our way & they do mostly clothes (not necessarily designer) - I've actually picked up some really nice M&S things from them to wear to work - so I'm hoping they will take some of our clothes - most are lightly worn, but just don't fit anymore!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I didn't go, Cheery, no, though I wish I had now! I can imagine being wildly excited as a Brownie if someone had taken my fingerprints thats brilliant :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
RT, yes, I'm not surprised you've decided they're not good enough - thats very bad
Loving that you've got some of those shops round you - I have access to vintage/repurposing shops on the coast, but not the type you describewish I did - though my two nice charity shops usually have a rail of that quality, its all a bit hit and miss. Its a small town thing, I think.
Hope your OH is doing okay, with the funeral on Wednesday and all, RT. A trying, exhausting, saddening time.
My travels today, OTOH, were ace, I have to say :j there's a village ten minutes away on the bus, near a tourist train, and though the train is wildly expensive, the bus fare to the village itself is £4 return  so I pootled about in the countryside - disturbing dopey pheasants, poor things :rotfl: chatting with robins and friendly cats (separately!) finding the lake adapted by the local Angling Society (not that I want to fish - but they've dammed a whole stream, 3 or 4 times, the engineering was fascinating) plus a 16th century church, that was very plain for such an agriculturally rich area. Really interesting, nitty gritty social history, which I adore. There were two horses tied up at the pub while their riders had a drinkits that sort of place
So now I'm back, with my feet up, and writing madly, having been inspired by the place. I love that I'm so close to this sort of thing.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
That sounds like a lovely afternoon KC, I think we're at least half an hour by car away from that sort of thing.
Ps. Your dopey pheasants seem oddly familiar - if you're writing, don't write 'Danny the Champion of the World' - Dahl beat you to it!0 -
What a lovely dreamy afternoon KC! Communing with the creatures sounds so relaxing! Any foraging happen while you were out and about?
I'm guessing it's the steam railway you are refering to? OH says he's been on it a long time ago - I had a look at the prices last week - wow you are right it's pricey!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
