    Thank you all :A :kisses3:

There's a lot of happiness in the scanned photos I'm working through, actually. A huge set from the 1930s is fantastic - my mum grew up in Liverpool, but they were 20 minutes away by train from the little town where she spent the last 30 years - and they used the train to go camping, in a farmer's field - it looks like half a dozen (related) families were there. They hung out, they played instruments, they cooked together, they taught the babies to play games, there's even a photo of the "farmer" and his wife, looking tres chic. Four of my great grandparents are on those photos :j

There was lots of plotting yesterday behind the scenes - upshot is, after my brother and sister get done using a rented van bringing back her stuff from her French house, we'll rent the van for another day so my brother can drive sh**loads of my crap (laurel branches, broken sheds, etc etc) to the local tip :j might even fit in some more of the foam I've discovered lurking elsewhere  and a local friend I've got to know is helping me shift a big piece of (empty) furniture tomorrow - my house **will** be a pleasure to live in, it will, it will, it will :T

Got to continue doing the tax return, of course :p

Sounds like a great plan, just to be prepared you may like to check if your local tip charges for commercial type vehicles, they do around here, due to the nature of their jobs/lifestyles two of my siblings drive pick up trucks (one shiny new expensive ones 'cos he sells them for a living, t'other rather muddy ones - they have sheep, pigs etc) they are not sign written, but sometimes get charged the commercial rate, even though they both have appropriate post codes:(

Beanie - thank you! The cooperation has got me really energised, I want all of this sort of thing done - admittedly, there are building works to do, but I want much more social time in the *very* near future :)

Earthgirl - aw, thank you honey! I think I'm going to put a separate category up on my cats site on pinterest, give it an ordinary password like "Karmacat" and let people see, they're a lovely, lovely thing.

maddiemay - thats a very good point! I opened up the right page on another tab, they now charge for non-household waste (soil, hardcore, even DIY rubbish), car and van tyres, even toilet pans, cisterns and ceramic baths. Luckily, it specifically says radiators, timber and all other household waste and recycling materials will remain free for local residents. Grass cuttings and gardening waste remain free of charge (though not turf, which is fine, as I don't have any of that)...

I have a *lot* of laurel branches ... I might ring ahead and explain the situation, it won't be happening till Thursday 26th ... and there's nothing on the website about the *type* of vehicle. I think I'll definitely take my proof of residence and proof of ID paperwork, though.

    Thanks again :)

    Morning :)

Yes, I know it's gone 1.30 in the afternoon :rotfl:

Yesterday's shenanigans moving my big bookcase went wonderfully well :j:j:j Cosy Corner/2nd bedroom now has its first piece of furniture. I was shattered, of course, especially as we dashed off for a little walk, but it was that *good* sort of shattered, happy glow variety.

    Today's gone rather well too:
    - bogstandard - soaking beans, dishwasher on.
    - Moved My Kitchen Table Against The Wall I'm not kidding, my kitchen looks twice the size :rotfl:
    - sorted my Home and Contents insurance, which expires tomorrow night. Between lessening the cover (because I don't have clients coming to my house anymore) and sheer bargaining, £95 knocked off the amount - that's good enough not to bother going elsewhere, especially as I'm in the middle of the accounts.
    - sorted French vocabulary for sale of white goods over in France, in case my sister needs me to step in - that could be a bit scary :p

I have a birthday card to post, and some laurel leaves to bag, I might leave the French finances till later today :)
