What a palaver KC! Stay strong, you'll get there eventually... I generally find an attitude of "resigned persistence" is necessary when dealing with bureaucracy... Currently enacting this myself trying to get a form signed at work - it's taken well over a year (!) But I think we might finally be reaching the end! Good luck...0

Cheery, how horrendous that the form you need has taken over a year  you deserve a medal!
Fair shout to HMRC today though - they sent a fairly generic but relevant email in reply to my bleating, I followed the steps, didn't work, then I phoned the helpline. The live human was swallowing her words and wasn't impressed with my babbling, but I don't need her to be - she poked about in the back office of the website and enabled me to register my landline as well as my mobile. Access code came through as quickly as promised :j:j:j
UK expenses now submitted, and I think even the French ones might be easier this year, I was experimenting with a yes/no in a particular box:o:o and it looks like it's going to be specific enough to be helpful :j

Watty, beanie, thanks for the sympathy and the vibes - this morning was amazing, as well as the French thing, I have 220-odd shares in Santander, from when they were Abbey National, and every year my heart sinks at the incomprehensibility of their forms and the irrelevance of the information they supply.
But this morning ... this morning, I read a note I made last year about online registration making the tax declaration process easier, and I followed through. Cue talking to two women in different call centres working for different companies in different parts of the country who were both utterly lovely, very kind and very helpful. And even though I'll have to complete the process when they send me a letter of some description, the second lady offered to give me the information I needed over the phone Right Now.
Erm, I welled upmaybe I'm a bit more upset about my mum than I feel day to day...

Even when unsurprising, the loss of someone you love is still so hearbreakingly shocking. Those waves of grief will still get you now and then but only because you cared so much.
Take care of yourself and just make time to 'be'.0 -
