Thanks both
Yep, I was really pleased at all the above!
The aim is to get all the work-type shenanigans done during January:
- both sets of accounts
- 2nd bedroom fully set up (i.e. a bed in there too!)
- most of the carp removed from the property - laurel, overgrown whatevers, the broken shed and its dead contents, all that sort of stuff, to go to the tip in the van my brother will be driving.
Then I'll take a couple of months off, having a bit of fun, and I need to go up north a couple of times to help my brother with our mum's house. And towards the end of that time, I'll also be getting quotes from my builder, and a few other tradesmen, for repairs that need to be made, as well as renovating the brick shed and replacing the garden gate that's fallen off its hinges
Onwards! Accounts work first ...Save2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Good plans there KC :j Bet your house will feel properly different after you've done all those things, how exciting! Love the way you're setting realistic goals and then achieving them
Most impressive :j (much better than my tendency to set wildly overambitious goals then not get anything done...
:rotfl: )

Hiya Cheery :hello:
Absolutely - there's such a lot of structural work - replastering the wall where the pointing collapsed is the other thing - and three rooms and the hallway need painting (I can do a lot of that) - but before all of that comes getting things into the room I want them in, and getting things I don't want off the premises altogether. That's going to make a huge difference to my standard of living :j
And I've made my fair share of unrealistic plans, y'knowThough actually, I know when the realism see-saw shifted for me - when I realised I really, really needed to retire. That felt like make or break time, and I decided to "make"
not "break"

Make not break definitely sounds like the right option!! :rotfl:0

So glad that you made the right choice for you at the right time for you.
Great to have a target to get things done by the end of the month.

All good stuff KC. Good to have a plan - but also good to be able to change things to suit you too.
Exciting times ahead - it's going to make a world of difference to your living environment and that's just what it is now - your living space not working...living.

.... boogies in happily  (thats a rumba, by the way) ....
So, it's good! And I definitely needed a little bit of flexibility today ...
- cleaned the bathroom floor (very much the worse for wear )
- birthday card off to eldest nephew
- done some of the tax figures for France
- sister popped round and I scanned some documents for her, and we sent them on their way to the ferry company
- tried to pay the insurance company, but their computer is down, so that didn't work.
- bought The Sun  we're going to do one of their holidays, and you have to buy the newspaper  don't throw me out of the forum
- the van that we're hiring between the three of us is a stonking great thing, almost 6 metres longso I can get a *lot* of rubbish in the thing
To that end, spent an hour or so "tidying" the branches laying about in the front yard. But no more chopping laurel leaves off the branches! The branches that are done, I'll burn them, to add nutrition to the soil, but thats it - everything else is going to the council composting scheme :j
