I didn't know they were so advanced, Z!

That's not advanced - it's the same sort of mechanism that opens automatic doors and has been around since Adam was a lad. I have an "advanced" one which stops shredding when it detects you too near the shredding. It is difficult to explain exactly the magnitude of what a PITA it is...

I think *I* offended *him* when I said I was worried about him carrying on working because he didn't know who he was if he didn't do that. I'm thinking a 69 year old therapist should have a better grasp of who he is than to say that, but even I'm not going to go as far as to say in in those actual words :eek::eek: just on here!

Some people define themselves through their work. It is who they are. You see it in pop stars who continue to "sing" when their voice has gone so far south, they're making penguins' ears bleed.

Provided they're enjoying themselves - what's the worry? If they're not enjoying themselves, but continuing to do it because they can't conceive of alternatives - that's time to start slapping them around the head.

You're right, I know - he was my family down here, in a lot of ways, like an irritating big brother :D He's not enjoying himself, not much, thats why I'm doing my "irritating mother hen" impression - which goes down just about as well as you can imagine :o

    Never mind.

Work went well, I gave myself a break, I looked over the sale particulars of my sister's French house, I got a refund for a broken DVD I bought on Amazon, the house is clean for the weekend, not bad. I *may* inflict my presence on the cherry laurel once again, but I may simply lord it over my dvd player ....

ETA - I did a yougov survey too, am now at 1300!

Ooh, congratulations KW! I only cashed one in autumn last, so I'm quite surprised to be up at 1300 - the thing is for me to do the survey as soon as it appears in the box, not to think, oh I'll do that later :)

I've been having a play on flickr - discovered the whole Creative Commons thing on there, for commercial use :) happy bunny

Morning! The dishwasher's on yet again, I'm ready for the off to my sister's for a couple of hours, I'm going to start fiddling about so that I'm free of chores when I get back :)

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
