  • Goodness, it is confusing. I think I might just bury my head in the sand for now. I won't get anything for another 13 years anyway, oh still has six years, and they will probably change it all again then anyway!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Yes I usually order one every year but admittedly I didn't order one last year as I understood that there were issues surrounding the changes that come into effect this year

My second last one showed me I was getting 40 odd a week on serps with a projected future of higher serps

My last one showed the calculations of the old way and a way to work out the new way and I was losing the 40 ...Mr El was getting less than the new pension as he paid his serps into his works scheme so wasn't entitled to the basic

I will however get a new one in June or July to see if it's sorted now with the changes that are coming in

Your foundation amount is the highest figure. So if the old way is higher, that's the amount you'll carry forward into the new scheme. In your case, it'll be the figure including the £40 you've earned in SERPS.

You'll start the new scheme with your foundation amount and for every year you pay NI, you'll increase the foundation amount up to a maximum of £155 (adjusted for inflation, of course)

That's exactly how I feel, Squirrel :o I'm glad Goldie has such a firm grip of the issue :o

In news of helping the retirement income cope - just been onto the online library, and browsed through what magazines they have available online. Huge number :D practically anything you see at a railway version of WHSmith, the library has an online version **jaw drops**

    Am very pleased :D

Trip to my sister was quick, by arrangement, to conserve energy levels, but I'm really happy I went. Lots of other retirement issues came up, we had a fine old time

I maybe picked it up wrong but it didn't look like that to me, as I say I will re look at it this year as Atleast this year it should be settled so I can get a proper look, would have had a look last year but it was very confusing

Thanks though for the heads up Goldie as I hope it is the way you describe that would make it not so bad tbh ... and deff something I can work with :)

I just checked it the other year and thought ohhh I don't like this .. spent ages working both mine and Mr El's out as I know his is diff due to his company serps

Thanks again ... hopefully my mind is more at ease :)

    Unusually, I have a to-do list on a Sunday (world-altering, dontcha know :) ).

    Done or in process:
    - work email.
    - dishwasher is on.
    - computer is getting backed up, flash drive version.

    To do:
    - washing machine on (I can't wait any longer for dry weather
    - 2nd experiment with the dehydrator, drying peppers, they've waited a week already :o
    - I do love faffing about mindlessly on the computer on a Sunday, but I'm going to be a bit mindful today, but so long term, it might as well be faffing :D:D:D aloe vera research, I have several plants, and I've never got my act together to use them properly. I may even repot them, they could definitely do with it.It's so soggy out there, and such a bad forecast, I doubt I'll get out for a walk.

Heavens no! It's warmer down here, but it's not *that* warm :D in fact, my rhubarb was got at by the frosts and collapsed, but I think a couple of stems have recovered. No, the aloe vera are on my windowsills :)
    I'm liking the list :)
    Thanks El!

    - washing machine finished and things draped around the house a little bit :p
    - peppers are sliced up and just in the dehydrator - there were packs of 3 for £1, they're little, but thats still fairly good, and I wanted to experiment with *something*. We'll see.
    - I also had a few links I'd discovered earlier about preparing aloe vera, including one from naturalnews - I made a pdf of that one, as it had a lot of photos. There's more to do with that, but I don't mind if I don't do it all today, it still counts as faffing :j:j:j

Off out for a saunter now, don't care if the sky is grey :)

Firm grip may be going to far - a loose clasp is more like it! :rotfl:

Pure Aloe vera gel is very good for your skin. I've got sensitive skin, and if I'm itchy, the gel calms it down effectively. I don't know it it's possible to extract the gel at home, but if you can, it's useful for skin care

It's pretty easy, break open the leaf and smear its gizzards over the required spot. The main problem is the production rate. Really speaking you need a lot of them if you're going to do that very often.
