I don't know what I was thinking with that previous post of mine :rotfl: I forgot all the crossings out, I was so confused by the italics that wouldn't switch off :rotfl: but these are the leftovers from yesterday's list. I did try to do the sofa thing, but they need a fire rating before they'll take it, and I have to go look. I'll do that now.

I looked at the trading yesterday, and I actually traded (successfully :j ) today - the trades yesterday were humongous, but I wasn't *quite* being work-like enough to take advantage of them. I'm so used to not being able to crack through, that I unconsciously say to myself "I'll look at the trading, and when there's no signal I'll do something from my list" - erm, no! Thats not good enough - during the times I'm prepared to trade, this is my job. Pure and simple. Doing other stuff is a no no. I'm posting now because a trade I was preparing for didn't build up to the right place, and I don't need to pay attention again until 9.50 (its every half hour that there might be a signal, so the next possible signal is 10am).

So in the next 15 minutes I'll be pootling about the house, getting stuff sorted, and come back fresh - I've been online since 7.45, so I need to stretch and move about a bit.

    Laterz, doodz :D

Yawns ... paying attention *properly* is quite tiring, isn't it :o:p

I'm continuing to translate the lease - its actually fine once I get started, but it *is* more concentration.

I went on to the French owners forum - there are 3 UK people on there who own apartments in my building, and their phone numbers are on there  I put a topic up, tho nobody's talked of it on there, and if nobody replies in a few days, I'll phone them.

I also found the fire safety notice on the sofa - thats fine. But I cannot tell a lie, its very dusty :( its also quite faded. Yes, the dustiness could be fixed with a vacuum, and maybe even a shampoo, but I don't want to spend any elbow grease on it, my hands hurt, my shoulder hurts, and frankly I've never used an upholstery shampoo - really don't want to start right now :rotfl: Its not filthy, its just grubbyment from normal useage. Of which its had very little in the past four years. I've got the phone number of the local BhF Furniture store, they collect free of charge (I should think so, actually!) so we'll see what they say.

Tried again. They're still busy, so I'll try another time.

Yawn ... I need to do something brainless for a bit ... cuppa tea and then off for a walk, I think :)

Nice to get out and walk ... I went to where the blackthorns hedge is ... the oak trees in the field itself have all been cut down, in preparation for more housing, I think :( the solitary good thing I can think of to say is that there's a *lot* of sawdust left over from the chippers, and since I finish paid work at 4.30 pm today, I'll walk up there again (its only 15 minutes walk) with a plastic bag, and relieve them of a couple of handfuls :)

Lots of paid work today - which means I'm not that far off breakeven point, thank heavens :j and I worked on the website yesterday, as well as the French lease.

A total of three phone calls to the British Heart Foundation has resulted in me being told to vacuum and clean my definitely fireproof-treated sofa before they deign to accept it, and no collection booking - the automated service tells me they're all on the phone. So, since a local friend was telling me about a local page on facebook for sales, I'll put it on there - someone's got one on for £20, I don't mind cleaning it a bit for that :rotfl:I'll do gumtree as well while I'm at it.

Oh, and I found a voucher for £2 from Holland and Barrett :T these are kind of self-perpetuating, since I stock up on nuts and seeds that I'd buy anyway, and store them in the freezer. Must remember my £10 online compensation voucher from Sainsbo, and I can re-join Tatco since I have a new address and a new cheque account, and get the £15 off a £60 delivery that Martin's mentioned today :T

I had another great convo on facebook yesterday, with a rellie that lives in Florida - he has personal friends who do that thing that all the books talk about, of making a living online and living wherever he wants to live. Great to know its not just a marketing tale :p

    Hey KC,

You sound really focused and it seems you are achieving lots :T What alot of calls you've had to make for the sofa - hope it sells soon though and i imagine a whole sofa going will free up lots of lovely space :D

:( re. oak trees being cut down. There were some trees cut down near me recently i can only imagine someone has purchased the plot for a house build. Time will tell. It was sad to see the trees go though x

Yep, I'm amazed I've managed to do what I have today, tbh Dedicated :) this is one of my busy Wednesdays. Had to ignore the sofa :) but I *did* get to go to the field, and collect all I could carry of the leftover chippings. Put it straight on a patch of bare earth, which will be part of the extended fruit bush bed eventually - can't be used this year, I'm sure fresh chippings need time to become less... fresh, lets say ... :rotfl:

Very sad to see the oak trees go - I'm guessing that field has much more value to the owner as development land than farmland, and thats why they're there in the first place. The hedges are still intact, and the hedges around the new houses built in the field next door are also still intact - have to be grateful for small mercies these days.

Hi Cheery, hi Beanie :) yep, lots of tiddler things adding up - I'm looking forward to being able to plant my new chives in the existing bed, as I have to move them every morning and evening to draw my curtains :o no other safe windowsills are available! Actually, I could put two in one porch windowsill, that would be something... online diaries are wonderful things :T

Another day, another dollar :j hmm, childhood saying - well, when you read biographies of The Beatles, they always say that the American trade had a big influence on Liverpool :rotfl:

An interesting time has already been had this fine morning ... I got a trade signal at 8am on the Dow, the main American financial index, its a good'un to trade. But I've never traded it at our 8am, the FTSE opening time, and I was a bit spooked to do it, as opening time is always when an index can swing wildly. So I didn't. And the Dow index didn't either :p it trotted upwards as peacefully as a lamb to where it was "supposed" to go under my system. Rats :p If I'd stayed in for 30 mins, which is my minimum target, I'd have made 90% of the average number of points I'm aiming for. I took copies of the chart every few minutes to show myself what a winning chart *sometimes* looks like ...

The other thing I'm admiring is the free bark chippings from yesterday evening :rotfl: I can't resist, they look beautiful :rotfl:

So, today. Paid work doesn't start till 4.30, so my day is mine own.

I've just started to read the monevator, which is recommended by edinburgher on here <waves, in case he's ever here> :) and I'm really struck by this page: http://monevator.com/financially-independent-in-10-years-a-plan/ which is only relevant for people old enough to withdraw from a pension (such as me ) a really fascinating concept there of contributing and withdrawing simultaneously to minimise tax. Not something for now, something for the future. "Tax dark" - I like it :rotfl: I can't research it today, but its sitting there at the back of my mind, chunnering away :p

    In practice, today:
    - couple of posts onto the cat website, already drafted.
    - one email.
    - sort the sofa: clean it up a bit, take photos, post on the local sales page on f/b.
    - work on the French lease.
    - little bit more gardening (= mulch spreading, from bought bark chippings this time) at lunchtime, as there's rain forecast for this evening, I think.
    - in the morning, check for trades.

Monevator: "Always remember: Anything that you own but don’t use is costing you money in some way, whether that is storage or heating costs or lost returns if you had invested the money instead."

ETA 10.30. Successful small trade :)

EETA: 10.55. Would have been a successful large trade if I'd stayed in :j I knew it could go a long way before I went in (80 points, its made 30 right now, so its still not halfway there) and knew I needed to get used to small trades again, so I got out too soon - don't mind at all, I'm still on the right track, and treating it like a job really works :j:j:j

Off for a cuppa tea now, and some carbs :D <lobs some down the phone line for others> :coffee::coffee::coffee:
