Ack, fiddly this morning, after such loveliness yesterday evening - well, really, so what? I tidied, and tidied again, and packed things away, and washed my hair, got my client room ready for 1pm, and the rest of the house ready for the builder at 12pm - but he's been delayed. What it *has* meant is that I'm ready to start the weekend with the house clean and tidy :rotfl: that can't be bad. I still haven't sent the dratted French email tho. Will do that now, since I'm not following a builder about the house
ETA - there are two things I've found out this morning: there's a free exhibition of Viking silver in Prestonand the 75th Worldcon (thats the World Science Fiction Convention to you) is in London this year :j
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Right, client work has been done, French email has been sent - they sent theirs in French and English, so I did the same (thats a jolly good wheeze actually, and I've no idea which would be legally binding _pale_
Just for fun, this is what I wrote:
"Merci pour votre email. Avant que je peux vous repondre, je voudrais vous poser des questions:
1. le nouveau bail, ce serait pour combien d'ans?
2. Et les termes, s'il vous plait, en l'avenir? Et ils sont differents de maintenant? Comment?
3. Autrefois, le revenue avait une garantie. Dor!navant, qu'est-ce que se passera?
Veuillez agr!er l'expression de mes sentiments les meilleurs"
Ooh, except my email didn't put in the acute accent in the last line - how chic :rotfl: And some of the grammar, and some of the vocab, are bound to be wrong, I know perfectly well - so here's hoping the bilingual bit comes in handy
I forgot to celebrate some vastly reduced goodies yesterday: 5 fresh croissants originally £1.19 reduced to 19p, and a **whole** melon, originally £1.99 reduced to £0.09 - and its lovely inside :j
Right, last muck around for the builder. Back soon.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Wow to melon.

Thanks Beanie, you too :kisses3:
Builder has been, I've explained my choices about radiators, bath panels and whatnot, he's happy - and the mark of a good builder, he can't start for a month :rotfl: I've done well there :j
After he left, I got straight out into the garden - I meant to plant the Alexanders I bought straight into the soil thats been covered with black plastic but its impossible - its that whole thing of "stick a clod of it in a kiln, it'd come out as a housebrick" _pale_ so for that bit, I've gone for soil improvement alone - a couple of bags of leaves that have been rotting down for a couple of years in situ and a layer of bark mulch over it - and the leaves!!!! OMG, the leaves :j:j:j I can't describe exactly how good those leaves look :rotfl:
So anyway, I'd managed to empty a plant trough a couple of weeks ago, and put drainage stones in, so I filled that with fresh (bought) topsoil, and put the Alexanders in there - they may not prosper, but I hope they survive. There were a few over, and I put those in a little area by the patio thats already had a bit of treatment (I bought 30 altogether, for £6, from Amazoom - not bad at all, and the smell is divinely garlicky
So, a walk, a quick tea, Jonathon Creek at 9pm, there *may* be a glass of wine in my future as well, not sure if I want one - I'm really, really tired, but in a good way - I look at the patches of improved soil, which are starting to spread nearer to one another as I do more, and it looks great
Hope everyone has a good weekend.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Beanie is debt free :j:j:j:j:j

Morning!
Beanie, I can't find a diary of yours - where do you have space on here to talk about your challenges, it sounds like you've hardly drawn breath ...
Sainsbo rang - 3 days after they said they would, but they rang, and apologised, and gave me a time-unlimited £10 voucher, with the promise that they're updating their website. I was very firm that without a difference in the website I wouldn't go back - they say they're rolling it out by the end of May, we'll see. I also mentioned how passive-aggressive their Customer "Services Assistant" was - she was really lucky I wasn't doing mystery shopping :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Anyway, today, I shall be off in a little while, trying that Homebase again - I wanted to ring their HQ, see if the voucher system's working, but they've only got 0845 numbers, their "if you're abroad" number doesn't work with a UK base, and I'm not paying 0845 on principle. So I'll go on spec - its a lovely town anyway, and there's a farmer's market, so I'll get there nice and early and buy some herbs there that I had my eye on last week, but couldn't manage. Its a morning only affair.
And I *may* get a haircut. Its way too long (down to my shoulder blades!!!) and I've noticed what a hairdresser told me years ago - that now its mostly finished going grey, its gone shiny again - my hair used to be really glossy, and its starting to look that way again. So I'm going to get it cut fairly soon, and I *may** dye it. I need to do more research on carcinogens in hair dye, as there's so much skin cancer in my family, but I've dyed it twice for big events in the last few years, and it genuinely does take years off.
Right, 10 more minutes with a quick zoom around here, and I'm off. Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday, we have the sun here, but I think it'll be everywhere by the afternoon :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

You could always try henna. Though obviously DYOR - my knowledge and experience of hair dye is very limited.
Don't get confused and use senna. That just makes it run...Right, 10 more minutes with a quick zoom around here, and I'm off. Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday, we have the sun here, but I think it'll be everywhere by the afternoon :j

:rotfl: confusing henna and senna could lead to some odd results, you're right, Z.
Lurvely day yesterday, with some excellent shopping. The Homebase voucher system was working, good strong wellies in the right size were purchased, plus seeds on a 4 for 3 offer (I'm going to experiment later on with growing catmint, and offering it for sale on the cat website) plus a 48 hour pillar candle and some microfibre cloths - and my voucher covered all but £1.65 or something :j
I'll definitely blog about Lewes later in the week, on my personal blog - its amazing, with the South Downs looming at you, but you're in the middle of all this ordinary out of town shopping centre stuff.
And I bought some herbs in the farmers market, destined for the small planter I already have - they're lightweight soil stuff, salad burnet and parsley - they both used to grow like weeds in the chalk soil I used to have, so I know them well.
And I even got a book I can use for CPD work next year, for 99p - about creative and journal writing for therapy, which lots of my clients already do, and is a fantastic basis for work.
Did more in the garden when I got home - I always mention it on here, because its part of my "looking after my assets" thing, but I enjoy it too - more weeding, pulling up grass, putting down mulch and soil improver. Plus old planks that have been weathering over the winter, and act as a home made raised bed border :rotfl:
Very tired physically today, so no gardening - but its very beautiful again, so I'll be off to the coast, admire the sea, and also go to the shops again - erm, some of the negatives I've been ignoring are that I put a foot through 1 of my 2 bedsheets last week, so I need a new one desperately :rotfl: and the alarm function on my phone stopped workingso I need a cheap alarm clock.
