What a lovely day that sounds, KC. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it:T. Lots of good news to read since I was on here last but no time now to pick anything specific out except your fabulous result with your energy bill, KC:j
The reason I haven't been around lately is that my adored cat went missing on Tuesday morning after having his breakfast and a cuddle at about 6. So out of character for him not to keep popping home to 'touch base' every few hours, even though he might be rabbitting in the fields.
It's been one of the worst few days of my life, all the searching, putting posters up all over the place, phoning, leafleting. We even went round miles of hedgerows poking in rabbit holes and calling him as the vet's receptionist told me that they occasionally have to treat cats that have been stuck in rabbit holes. My cat is an ace rabbit-catcher! I never realised there were so many rabbits round here, it took us about 5 hours:(.I must have lost half a stone, I can't recall eating anything for days. As for sleep, I never went to bed, just sat in the recliner for 4 nights in the little sitting room where the door with the cat-flap is, obviously dozing a bit but never really sleeping.
But, joy of joys, he came home around 2 o'clock last night:j:j:j. Normally comes clattering through the cat-flap, we can hear him from upstairs, but this time the outside security light didn't come on so he didn't approach via the back garden as usual. I was sitting here in the dark and there was just the quietest sound as his head popped through the flap, followed by the rest of him almost silently.
He's a very vocal cat, he likes to stand/sit facing me and 'talk' to me, but this time his normally loud miaow is so quiet and croaky:eek:. I wonder if he has been shut in someone's outbuildings and has been wailing and miaowing to be let out and has almost 'lost his voice'. Otherwise he is unharmed. Hungry and thirsty but not excessively so. He seems exhausted though.
Sorry to 'go on' but I adore my cat, he's helped me through some really horrendous times in the 7 years since we've had him. I was dreading not having him around but in my heart of hearts I knew he'd find his way home unless he had been killed somehow. OH has been less than sympathetic:(. Although he did everything I asked to help search etc he was forever telling me to resign myself to never seeing him again. I think he'd given up hope after 24 hours.
Have a lovely Sunday, everyone, as I will now:j. Off to have a cup of tea and then bed, with the cat snuggled up beside me. He's beaten me to it, he's already there:rotfl:
Sorry to hijack your thread, KC:kisses3:0 -
Good heavens, CBC! That's horrendous! I'm very glad he's back – I know what that's like, my beloved little grey cat went missing exactly like that for 3 days, I was terrified she'd been run over – there was one gap in the terraced houses where I lived then, she could have found her way out to the road, or been savaged, anything. I'm so glad yours is back! Though mine was never a rabbiter - I did see her catch a moth once, and that was about it
:rotfl:
And fancy him having more or less lost his voicepoor little thing. Going back to bed and cuddling him sounds like a really good idea. Take your time.

Lovely to see so many cat-lovers on this thread, and to hear of cats living/who lived long lives:T
My cat is 7 and is still so kittenish and active. It came as something of a shock to see some cat food in Morrisons that described itself as for 'Senior' cats, i.e. those over 7 years old:eek:. He's like me, we'll never grow up:rotfl:. Senior? No way.0 -
My vet said my boy was in great shape for a 15 year old.

My grey one got pregnant at nine months, before I'd thought to get her neutered, and the vet looked at her and said "ooh, she's been a little tart, hasn't she" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: The funny thing is, she *was* a tart, she'd curl around anyone's legs and look at them lovingly :smileyhea2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hi RT
yes, it was lovely, ta muchly
Are you starting to enjoy yourself where you are, as opposed to unpacking?
I've had no energy for gardening, because of my seaside trip on Saturday, so I'm hopefully recovered enough to do a bit today - need to carry on laying the mulch, I just *can't* let the weeds gain ground again!
So, today, my time is already allocated really:
- 2.5 hours sessions.
- I sold a Felix cat collar :j so I have to post that.
- d/w
- w/m (its on the go already)
- two birthday cards to go
- new lightbulb installed - I've been hanging about on this
- bit more research on Norfolk, plus an email, plus printing it all out for my mum, thats getting close now.
- weeding!
- tidying.
Tidying - part of my holiday will be at home, after Norfolk, so its really important to me that the house is sort of *ready* to holiday in, without boring tidying, so I can have a play with a new project if I feel like itIn the same vein, no more stuff to be put onto ebay until after the holibob - I need my energy for tidying and then holidaying :j
