Thank you MWC, thank you all - and healthy, happy times for us all. Wealth too
I feel well enough to have a little snifter tonight :j Must also ring my brother, after talking with our mum, he's annoyed with my sister for not having me round to hers. What they don't know is that my sister already invited me, and I said no straight away, as I'm sure I'm still infectious. Thoughtful of him to be peeved on my behalf :rotfl: but I'd rather he know the reality
A lovely holiday time for all, thats the plan :A:A:A2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Oh dear KC :rotfl: Nothing like getting the wrong end of the stick to cause a family squabble :rotfl: Hope it gets cleared up soon!
Glad you're feeling well enough for a snifter too - have a merry one!0 -
Thanks Cheery - yes, its all good now. He's having a rather active Christmas - a dozen people round, and in the middle of it, he's zooming off to visit my mum, she doesn't want to go there and be surrounded by all that noise and jollity when she's so hard of hearing. She doesn't want him to visit either, wants him to have a day off driving, but he won't accept that its an active Christmas all round.

All those with Christmas journeys, stay safe, warm and happy. And have a lovely time when you get there :rudolf::rudolf::rudolf:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Merry Christmas KC, take it easy0

Thanks ed, I will.
I should be in bed, I know, but I'm wildly excited about having online access over Christmas
So, erm, I've been checking JL craft supplies and then ended up with the jam pans at Wilkos ... thats my level, really :rotfl:
Right, Bedfordshire is calling.

Hi sweetie! I'm still wildly excited about access to the interwebulator :j and pretty happy about a snifter too, especially as I don't have to move once I've sat down - still feel dreadful if I stand up for 5 minutes
but shall remain :j anyway.
All family phone calls made, they're all reassured I'm not going to starveand I'm in the middle of buying a canning rack from Amaz0n - needs to be used for a certain sort of preserving (though I'm blowed if I can remember which just now
) I just know that if I'd had one this summer I'd have been doing other recipes with foraged food. The rack stops the jars wandering about in the pan and breaking each other open
Off to scatter reindeer cheer :rudolf::rudolf::rudolf:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
:snow_laugMust admit I've been sale shopping as well - a bi-annual treat - some much needed clothes have been ordered to replace items in the capsule wardrobe - still trying to track down some smart walking shoes & sneakers/trainers - OH wants shirts & trousers for his new job starting in January:j:j:jbut the sales are not that spectacular for menswear, so we may have to come up with a different strategy for that!
As I too am very lurgified - viral cough that just won't quit - a relaxed day (or two or three or four) in front of the TV & 'puter is in order!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Planning on a hot rum toddy (or two or three or four) before the day is out!
Do tell - what are you planning to can? - I went through a stage of jams & jellies in my uni days & it was most satisfying to 'save' the bushels of fruit & veg that were so very affordable during autumn harvest - also made posh looking Christmas gifts! with a bit of fancy cloth and a red ribbon over the top.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Eek! You mean I have to be specific/put my (non) money where my (foraged) mouth is? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Okay ... salsa type sauces, like pesto ... even though they've gone down in price by a third, its still £1 for a 200g jar; the 80p stuff in Asda is nice sometimes, but tastes weird. I'd like to forage (even grow!) the green stuff, and make my own. I did pretty well with foraged apples this year, but abysmally on the blackberries, and didn't even touch my own blackcurrants (every single one I tried to pick was covered in ants). I could still get more apples, and there's lots of rosehips finally ready. As long as my health holds out, I can make it work
Sorry to hear you're that lurgified, RT - I've only had a cough on a couple of days, and its a very tiring symptom.
Clothes and shoes ... I'm shopping the wardrobe, as per the Not Buying It In 2015 Old Style thread :j:j:j in fact, I've got loads of my sister's cast off shoes (she has to look *really* smart) and I'll be using those till I retire, to save my own stuff
Good luck to OH - and health and energy to you2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Can I join in with you in the Lurgied corner? I've got an ear/throat/gland infection and I am an antibiotics (so no hot toddy here!)Must use my stash up!0
