Unicorn has arrived in the II stable and my transfer from HL (including cash) is complete - I was not charged to transfer out.

However, I note that when I click on Unicorn in my ISA account, there does not appear to be any fund fact sheet available....

How long did it take and what actions did you take on your journey to middle earth?

Between seven and eight weeks in total.

With regard to the HL fees, I wrote to them to say that I knew that the £25 in specie transfer fee pre-dated their new terms and conditions and so if I had to, I would pay it - however, I felt that they should offer me a fee free transfer because the reasons that I was leaving related directly to their new terms and conditions.

    No exit fee was charged.

I expect I'll get used to the II web site but I am still "remembering my first love..":)

That said, I would have been charged more than twice as much at HL, so I'm drying my tears with that comforting thought.

My little unicorn has gone missing... has anyone seen him... responds to the name of ... bah can't think of a witty name :p

Seriously though it is ridiculous how long it's taking, must be getting on for 2 months now, lost track, given up chasing almost. Am currently now paying platform fees at both HL AND II as well so that's another issue to sort out once the transfer finally happens (if it ever happens at this rate).

Another amusing aside is that when I cancelled one of the transfers I was in charge of, I notified HL and they responded within an hour or so to say the transfer had been cancelled. By contrast, one day before asking about that, I asked why my transfer of another account was taking so long... and I still haven't received a response to that question nearly a week later. :(

Good to hear some transfers have completed but I expect there will be further delays due the new ISA season :(

I sent my ISA transfer form to IWeb on 13 February and complained to HL re exit fees etc on 15 February. Won't bore you with the details of subsequent action/inaction, but nothing has happened yet :(.

What puzzles me is that HL have taken no charges from my SIPP account. The SIPP is so tiny, I decided to leave it with HL and definitely did not mention it in my complaint, nor did HL mention it in their letter 15 February.

Should I point this out to them? (There is sufficient cash to cover the charges)

Is there any point asking HL what is holding up the ISA transfer?.

Well I asked on Monday and got a standard reply, with no explanation, no dates, no real information. As for fees, maybe they have put in some software to stop charges on all moving accounts.
  • Received an email from the FCA today acknowledging my complaint to them. They key bits are:

They have essentially informed me that there is a complaints procedure and that they are unable to deal with individual complaints (as naedanger had already informed me). However, should I be unsatisfied with the way my complaints are dealt with first the platform and the FOS I should contact them.

With regards to the letter I sent to them about HLs practices, they have involved the team that is in charge of conduct supervision of HL. They're unable to tell me if they've already started a legal investigation into HL but assure me that if they are fundamentally doing something wrong, they will take regulatory action.

The comments following that article are even more interesting. Wonder what HL's stats on complaints will look like for the first half of 2014

Interesting as they didn't announce their new pricing structure until the following year, when you'd think there would be a greater surge.
