Leaving HL without transfer charges

To be on the safe side I would send them a secure message saying that you are transferring your accounts from them to [new provider]. You understand from [new provider] that they have send the transfer forms with your instructions to HL. Could you [HL] please confirm you have received this request?
This secure message should itself (together with your correspondence with your new provider) be evidence of a transfer request submitted within the one month deadline.
Cheers, yes I already asked HL if they'd received the transfer request from iii and they said no. At which point I asked iii to re-send the transfer request which they did on the 10th Mar (according to them they originally sent the first transfer request on 26th Feb so it's obviously got lost somewhere in the system).
Like you say I'm sure the paper trail of me sending the transfer requests via recorded delivery originally, plus the various messages on both iii and HL's messaging systems will be sufficient proof that the transfer was well under way within the month.
What a faff!0 -
I only have around £1,300, albeit growing monthly. So the new charges are beneficial to me.
However I am thinking in 2-3 years time I would be worse off. If it was not for the account closure fee & new cash exit fee, I think I would stay with H & L as I do like the flashy website!
I am considering selling up, transferring out in cash just before the new tax year, closing the account and buying the funds again in a new ISA on a different Platform. Charles Stanley sounds good.0 -

With 24 days remaining, why act now when you can open your HL ISA in under 5 minutes?0 -
Based upon the current delays in answering secure messages, and getting things wrong, I would suggest that H-L are in a mess. Whether this is due to transfers out or the start of the "season", I can't know.
I've had been with them for about twenty years and the few mistakes they made would be immediately corrected and I would get an apologetic letter or phone call. Now you have to chase them 2 or 3 times before a correction is made and then you get an email saying it's corrected without even a sorry.0 -
i Think i have done enough now, but i hope im not left waiting for another negative response, slowing things down:think:
does "I can confirm that I have passed your response onto our Client Services department as a formal complaint. They will deal with your complaint and aim to initially be in contact within 5 working days." sound positive enough?
i haven't had a further response by Secure Message, but am i right in understanding that The Response We Want actually comes in the post, instead:question:0 -

When I phoned the other day I spoke to a sullen young woman who sounded very cheesed off.
I expect they're getting lots queries from people who don't understand it all as well as from many who understand too well and want to know why they're being charged both the 0.45% platform and commission on their funds.0 -
Got my letter saying they'll waive my exit fees today; sounds like it is the same one others have got. I was surprised, given the forcefulness of the refusals by secure message. So, it was definitely worth making the complaint. Thanks to everyone here for showing it was possible.0

but don't you get paid the loyalty bonus share in full back? (HL don't take any share of this now from what I understand)0
