My Mother-in-law is an agent for Littlewoods.CON & I ordered a cooker through her. Initially she was told that it was in stock, then that it would be delivered on 16/12/13. A couple of weeks later, she was told that they didn't know when it would be delivered but it definitely wouldn't be before Christmas.
Finally, it was delivered on 8/1/14.
When I unpacked it, I found two small pieces left in the packaging. I tried to find out where they had come from & discovered that one of them (at least) was from the box which connects to the mains cable, making it impossible to connect the cooker. Thus the cooker was unusable.
Initially, I tried to contact Littlewoods.CON to get someone to come out & fix the parts. (It wasn't an difficult job. I could have done it but would have voided the warranty by taking the back off the cooker). Littlewoods.CON refused to speak to me, quoting the Data Protection Act.
I asked my M-I-L to phone then & arrange for them to speak to me (as we live 100 miles apart) regarding making an appointment. Littlewoods.CON told her that I would have to contact the manufacturer. She passed this on to me & I told her about SOGA and advised her to contact them again, quote SOGA & ask them to authorise me to speak to Littlewoods.CON directly, which she did. I also told her to cancel the transaction & arrange for them to collect the cooker ASAP (as it is blocking my kitchen and I can not get into it in my wheelchair).
When I phoned Littlewoods.CON, they said that they needed authorisation from the account holder. I told them that she had given authorisation but they denied it.
And so it began......
Since then, my M-I-L has spoken to Littlewoods.CON on no less than 5 occasions, each time giving them authorisation to speak directly to me. Both my M-I-L & I have made complaints, to which I received the reply that my account would not be accepted until I had been authorised.
Eventually, after three days, I received an email from Littlewoods.CON stating, categorically, that I HAD been authorised on the account, so I phoned them. They told me that I was not authorised on the account. I asked to speak to someone in charge, they refused.
I have been told that I am NOT the customer, I am just a 3rd party, to which I pointed out that that would mean that the items which people purchase from them must be second-hand. They didn't like that.
Now, after more than a week & despite being given two different dates when Littlewoods.CON said they would collect the cooker, I am no further forward, the cooker is still stuck in my kitchen preventing me from entering it & Littlewoods.CON are still refusing to speak to me.
The message is:
Littlewoods.CON have the most appalling Customer Service in the country (if not the world).
Littlewoods.CON do not understand SOGA or think that they are above it.
Littlewoods.CON do not value their end customer, at all.
Littlewoods.CON sell goods to their agents who then sell them on to their customers, making the item that you receive a second-hand item, possibly ruining your statutory rights.
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, HAVE ANY DEALINGS WITH LITTLEWOODS.CON.
Finally, it was delivered on 8/1/14.

Ahh the old agent accounts. Basically you don't buy from littlewoods you buy from the agency (If your mother in law has a true agency and not just a catalogue and pretends to be an agency. Not many are true agency accounts now)
Now if she does have a true agency account. She is infact the retailer she just uses SDG/littlewoods to fulfil the orders so your SOGA rights are against your Mother In law not sdg.
If she has the more common regular account (& pretends to be an agency again very common) then you are right DSRs/SoGA applies to your Mother in Law. You have no rights with littlewoods or right to speak to them.
Sounds like your speaking to Cardiff/Preston. Both as bad as each other.
Your Mother in law needs to speak to electrical aftercare (NES) they deal with gas too. They can arrange a resolution. Dont go shouting to the cs advisor. S/he has a process to follow and if you aint on the notes you aint speaking to them. No one will talk to you. If you ring and shout you lose straight away. If I had a shouter when I was on the phones you got bare minimum legally required.0 -

Are you sure you know your rights because from what you have said Simon is correct.0 -
Neither I nor my M-I-L know the exact status of her account, mainly because Littlewoods refuse to tell HER.
She has, however, on at least three occasions in the last 7 days, phoned Littlewoods & told them that she wants a note placing on the account that she authorises me to speak to them regarding this item. Littlewoods have been either negligent about not doing so or have purposefully not done it. Having said that, I have an email from Littlewoods Online Customer Services stating that there IS a note on the account authorising me to speak directly with them BUT when I phone to sort the situation out, the Phone CS say that there isn't. Someone must be lying!!!! And I can produce the email from Abhisihvek Susvirkar (excuse my spelling) at Online CS, so it isn't me. And when I ask to speak to someone who can explain the discrepancy, I am told that I am not allowed to.
Finally, after everything, despite having been given two dates when the cooker was to be collected, and having waited in on both days, it is still blocking my kitchen. All I want is to be rid of it. But I can't even organise that. And now my M-I-L is getting the runaround as well.0 -

Hi justmyopinion,
We're sorry to hear that this cooker arrived damaged.
As it hasn't been installed a collection can be arranged. You can do this by emailing us at help@littlewoods.co.uk (the email will need to come from the email address we have stored on the account) or your mother in law can call us.
If you are having problems with being authorised on the account you personally don't need to speak to us; your mother in law can simply arrange a collection for you. A cooker collection would be booked in and she can give your telephone number to the advisor to pass on to the depot who will call you within 3 days to arrange a suitable collection date and time.
Hope this information helps
Chris

Two collection dates have already been arranged, but the cooker has not been collected and the op's mother in law has already repeatedly asked for the op to be authorised. Given these difficulties can you not assist the op on here Littlewoods Company rep?0

I would get someone to dump it on your doorstep and tell littlewoods they can collect it when they want. I would also cancel the card payment too.
Littlewoods are unbelievable, I ordered something last week and it just got deleted from my account and I've not heard anything. So I will never shop with them again.0 -

I've never had a problem with Littlewoods.. Besides them not coming to collect something a couple of times but often I get my answer from customer services and my annoyance lies with the courier company they use.
Admittedly I've only used it to buy an iPad, DSLR camera etc so no furniture so to speak. I did buy a computer desk from them once though and it was delivered okay - I have never returned furniture though and I guess a cooker is a different kettle of fish. The truth is out there... and I want to believe0
