BT Vision

Hi
I've heard BTs new TV service, Vision, is the absolute bomb.

I'm with Sky at the moment but am looking to get a better service, better channels and of course access BT sport.

I've never tried any other TV service but Sky, anyone got any experience of BTs television service. I know they provide the best land lines in the UK.

BT Vision is based on Freeview, you pay extra for what premium content they have to offer. They mostly use the Humax YouView box, the Talk Talk offering is similar, both have less channels than Sky.

A landline is a landline. BT Openreach maintain the lot, they have a monopoly in that respect.
LLU operators generally beat BT on price, you can have Talk Talk or Sky on your exchange.

If you can get Infinity then you get a few extra channels but its not that many (and BT sport) BUT if you cant get infinity where you live then you WONT get anything that isnt available on freeview (apart from catchup and some on demand content) and you wont get sport. I had a look before Christmas but we dont live in a cabled area so i would be paying BT just for the privilege of a youview box (which is a total pile of crap btw). In the end i got a great deal from sky (so for the next 12 months i am quite happy).

If you aren't in an Infinity area, and are desperate for BT Sport, and live in an area that can receive Freeview MUX 6, then there is an alternative.

BT can supply a BT Vision+ box, instead of YouView. That can take a decoder card to receive the two encrypted BT Sport channels on Freeview.

But it's a pretty obsolete box, and can't do Freeview HD. The YouView is generally getter.

The Humax YouView box is am excellent piece of kit, from a reliable manufacturer.

As penrhyn stated, BT's landlines are the same as anyone elese's landlines, since they are all provided by BTW.
