I loved the injection too, I didn't have periods on it either (which was the main reason I was on it).flutterby_lil wrote: »I love the injection, no periods, no forgetting to take anything, just a little !!!!! every 12 weeks.....but it has made me put on weight
The only reason I stopped it was because I thought it might be causing me to put on weight, but I haven't lost any since stopping it so I guess it wasn't!0 -
Mirena, Mirena, Mirena. I've been singing its praises since I had it fitted two years ago.
I used to really struggle on the pill (both kinds) with spotting and pain but I had two light periods after I had Mirena fitted and nothing since. No pain, no periods, nothing!
It was fine getting fitted, I actually found the smear more uncomfortable than having it fitted, it was just a little pinch and it was in.Getting married 02.08.14

I'm on my second copper coil. The first one was really painful when it was fitted but the second time my lovely doc gave me a blob of local anaesthetic up there and a Valium to take just before I got to the appointment. I've not had kids so coil a last resort as my cervix hasn't stretched but it suits me far better than the pill which made me ill!0

I second the persona. Loved it. Don't use it anymore as hubby had the snip, which is the best but permanent!fannyadams wrote: »I had the implants (5 and they were the size of matches when they were first available) twice for 3 years both times.
Apparently I *should* have had the 3 month 'Depo' injections first, to check I could 'cope' with the hormones (if I had done, I wouldn't have gone ahead with the implants as I was a raging hormonal mess for 6 months, but after that I was fine for the remaining 2 1/2 years)
I've used the Persona monitor for 13 years - you have to buy the sticks to wee on and they aren't that cheap (£10/month). We conceived our DS#2 (deliberately) with it :j
Friend had mirena coil fitted recently and had 3 months of 'trouble' (permanent period pains, bleeding etc) ended up having ultrasound to check it was in properly etc so not exactly selling it to me...0 -
Well, I had an appointment to investigate possible PCOS - and ended up getting the Mirena, sans local anasthetic. Currently in bed in a fair bit of pain (the internal ultrasound didn't feel great either).
I'm hoping the stories of only a few days recovery hold true for me too!:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -

So its copper coil or diaphram, I have heard 2 horror stories about the copper coil and men who are rather generously endowed (desperately thinking of a polite way to say it lol) and the wire sticking into them painfully during sex. Has anyone else heard of this?
My partner and I know of this, the guys don't necessarily have to be terribly 'well endowed' either, Im more inclined to think it depends on err.. his anatomy and hmm..angle. But my partner got scratches all over it every time, until he became afraid lol, so we started using condoms because of that.
I hate the coil, despite having had it in for 4 years, the non hormone one. The periods [for me] are madness, a full 7 day bleed, loads of it, flooding, clots. I quite often come on early too, which is obviously very annoying. The only thing Ive found to cope with that is using a mooncup and taking high doses of ibuprofen for a few days.
Im going to have mine taken out when I build myself up for the trip to the doc, and just use condoms. Bit risky, but cerazette never agreed with me either.''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -
I'm a walking advertisement for most contraception methods, tried them all!
I'm on the copper coil. It really was a pain (in all senses) to get in in, had to come back two times as my period was too heavy the first time. As with others my cervix is in a weird place too. I literally had to have two doctors and a nurse do mine as it was so fiddly. Had to have my head hanging off the surgery bed so they could get me at a decent angle haha!
It was fine for about 8 months but then just before christmas I started feeling "prodding" in my left had side of my uterus. It went for a while but has now come back again with a vengeance. I'm off to the docs tomorrow for them to check it.In debt no more!0 -
