Tesco car insurance WARNING

Sounds like a complete nightmare!
I use Aviva car insurance and have done for a couple of years now just due to price, they come up cheapest for me. I had a slight problem last July when I bought my new car. I had asked for my insurance to start on the day that I was due to pick up the car, pre-arranged date and the cover would start from midnight of the start of that day. In the morning before I picked up the car I quickly checked on the MID that the car was showing as covered. It was not. I rang up Aviva in a panic because I didn't want to risk driving it home uninsured - and they explained they had a software glitch and all computers etc were down all night. I said where does this leave me now with my new car, is it covered or not? They agreed to email me a letter that I could print out and take on the journey with me to show that I was covered should I get pulled over - but the whole thing made me very nervous. I wonder how many other Aviva customers got pulled that day!
I can imagine how frustrated and angry you must be OP and suggest you fight this tooth and nail.Debt Free 08/08/2014

Yeah, I am extremely angry about it all, feel like I'm stuck between a rock and hard place with no one admitting any responsibility for what's happened to me.
I intend to fight it as I've not done anything wrong and I'm worried about the whole thing having sleepless nights worrying about the whole criminal conviction and court side of things.
I'm thinking about contacting my local MP to see if he can help with anything. Also if my complaint isn't dealt with by Tesco contacting the media as it could effectively cost me my livelihood as my job involves driving and I need a clean license.0 -
Strange, I change my car insurance supplier almost every year (just go with the best value on a compare site) and I've never been asked to prove my NCD.
OP, why did you pay £200 extra when Hastings were only £10 dearer?
I also change most years, and have only been asked once for proof of no claims!0 -
This is yet another made up story by that weirdo FTBSOS who also happened to be posting utter rubbish earlier today.

Whichever username he uses - and he's had loads of them on MSE - his stories often start out sounding fairly plausible then he over eggs the pudding by adding on ridiculous details, then changing his account when any contradictions are pointed out.0 -
I had to take out a new policy with another company which was £200 more than I paid for my original with Tesco. They would not reinstate my insurance due to the car being impounded, even though it was their fault.
My original policy with Tesco was £10 cheaper than Hastings thats why I went with them.
As for you coopdivi, what are you on about? I'm on here for advice on this matter. I don't understand some people on here with useless comments, have you nothing better to do?0 -
