Did you find out what they neighbours have, in the way of TV reception?
Hiya,
In my line, we're the first to move in. But having looked around the area, The completed developments, I noticed only one house which had a HUGE TV aerial.
The rest of them all had Sky dishes and i managed to speak to a couple who said they were on Virgin0 -
My house was a new build in 1971and that was provided with an aerial socket but no aerial. I wouldn't expect a builder to provide one.
If you are in a good reception area, a table top aerial,(some have a mains powered booster) , may suffice. We use one for the upstairs tv, but it gives a good picture with the main much bigger tv, too.0 -
So you're getting Sky installed, along with the dish. And you don't want to spend much on an aerial. I was sortof lucky as my new build was pre wired for aerial and satellite. If you're like me you'll go into the loft to find a bundle of wires. If you can identify which one is the aerial connection for your TV, you could TRY any portable aerial on it, pointing in different directions, and see if that will get you any reception - and just leave it in the roofspace. A neighbour with a BIG aerial isn't a good sign, it may mean reception's weak in your area. You could quite easily buy a proper aerial and install it yourself (inside the roofspace) to save paying someone to install, but no results are guaranteed of course!0

If you want to jump to that conclusion then you should have read my first post properly. It would have indicated that im looking to get sky. No point in forking out £100. its a big expense for 2 weeks. Were not all in your lofty position. Plonk
The simple phrase 'I'm having Sky installed at the end of the month' would have made your intentions a lot clearer then.
And threads don't get closed. They remain, forever. No free lunch, and no free laptop

No it didn't. All "Cant use sky as engineerIf you want to jump to that conclusion then you should have read my first post properly. It would have indicated that im looking to get sky.
dates are end of month" indicates is that you've enquired of Sky when they might be able to install a freeview aerial.0 -

As Sky don't install aerials then this is a red herring.0 -
Irrespective of what the OP meant, their use of words was terrible and easily mis-understood.
On the whole, the post is asking how to receive freeview, without giving confirmation in the first instance that they plan to get Sky at the end of the month anyway. However after re-reading the thread title, it seems the OP has never lived without Sky.
How about... OP... that you live without TV for the month?
It's quite easy...0
