It seems to be for me too. I buy mainly organic, free range products, because DH has to be very careful with additives as they affect his liver and skin, and he thinks that Waitrose food affects him the least, and I don't really like to think of animals suffering to feed me!

I have only spent £250.00 this month on food, which is for all lunches and toiletries etc too, and also includes £25.00 towards that Indian meal. We have had sirloin and filet steak, a huge free range chicken, a massive shoulder of lamb and a delicious side of salmon this month, so I am not complaining!! I think it is all in the planning, as you probably discovered years ago, clever Fortune xx.

It's time to move INOD x.

I had a very interesting evening yesterday. I went to see the Grand Budapest Hotel with a friend. It was very MSE as it was her turn to choose the film and pay!!

My DF is an excellent languages teacher at an innovative, state high school in the City Centre, and the vast majority of her pupils get top grades.

All her pupils work from IPADS and she leads the Scholar program at the school, which is focused around computer based learning developed at Herriot Watt University.

I picked her brains and I am going to book an appointment to see DS's Headmaster, before the end of this term, to ensure DS has access to all the extensive resources this program offers. DS has already negotiated with the Business Manager and Headmaster to study Physics independently, but they were not forthcoming when he mentioned this program to them.

According to my friend, it would really help him with all his options, and all the Edinburgh schools can access it, if they know how!! I think it is time DS school moved with the times, especially as they can't provide the necessary teaching resources for children to finish some of their their options, due to budget cuts, and I will be (tactfully) telling the HM that. On an MSE note it will not cost me anything other than my time!

    Key things:-

    1. Dust and hoover the house, and general tidy.
    2. Drop get well card in.
    3. Menu plan for the rest of the month, around what is left in the freezer and cupboards, and aim to stay under £300.00 for whole of March.

Today I am grateful for my early adopting friend x.

Morning world. I was out for a 'girl's' night out yesterday, at a friend's house, and I had a really good, belly laugh. I found myself wondering whether us eight ladies, all around the age of 50 would ever truly grow up, and then secretly hoping that we didn't!! We all agreed that we were stuck in time warps that ranged from 18 to 33 years old, but no one would admit to feeling or being 50.

DF provided pizza and we all brought a plate of something or a bottle of wine. So tea consisted of a few slices of B-B-Q pizza, potato wedges, and banoffee pie, washed down with a couple of glasses of chilled, Sauvignon Blanc. Bliss!! and a cheap night in/out.

So overall I feel like I have had a rebellious few days, which I needed, but I haven't really fallen off the wagon in the spending or drinking realms. It's time to reign things back though and to finish the month really strong, with one week to go:

    These were my March aims:-

    - Completely overhaul my wardrobe as per Sassy's suggestion

All my clothes are washed and in my wardrobe awaiting an overhaul which I will commence this afternoon.

    - Drink moderately on no more than 6 occasions

I have drunk moderately on 6 occasions and immoderately on one, the Indian meal ...... I will probably drink next Saturday, so I am slightly over, but not too concerned.

    - Stick to my gym and spa schedule

This has gone well. I have been averaging three times a week, and I am feeling the benefits of it.

    - Achieve an emergency fund of £250.00

I have achieved that already and I will probably be able to put away another £50.00 on top, or I might use that to start another savings pot. I will decide at month end.

    - Really enjoy and savour my two treat days!

I enjoyed my trip to the art lecture, but I did not do the mountain climb, due to bad weather. I have had a few unexpected treat days though, so I am not feeling deprived.

    - Stick to my budget

I am under budget on groceries and clothes and on budget for all other things. However, I had two unplanned expenditures, Indian Meal and a contribution to DH of £50.00 for diesel, as all the extra jobs, that I have been picking up, has knocked out his fuel budget. The £75.00 was absorbed in the groceries and clothes underspend. I am going to limit myself to £50.00 to last until month end.

I am feeling pretty positive and optimistic, so I want to hang on to that.

    TTFN xx.
