How to cancel transaction as buyer

Hi does anyone know how i go about cancelling a transaction as a buyer please? Had my paypal account limited for good as it says i am linked to a banned account which i can only think is a relative who stayed with me for a few months so cant make payment trying solve it with paypal with no luck as we have the same last name, was same address and same IP. They have asked for proof of ID and address which i have provided but no luck. Asked the seller if will accept cheque postal order or bank transfer and send when payment received and cleared sadly they wont. any help is grateful thank you xx

A buyer can't cancel.

A seller must raise a mutual or a non paying bidder dispute.

Ask the seller to cancel, but be prepared for them to refuse and open a dispute against you.

One strike won't hurt your account, your Paypal limitation is perhaps your downfall and more to worry about.

You've tried to pay, intent is very important in the law. Now if a dispute occurs, Ebay will demand you pay, Paypal (Ebay) won't let you pay, the farce begins. Most likely they will try and persuade the seller to take an alternative form of payment or cancel the transaction. They can't really do much to you.

In ebay land it doesn't matter that you 'tried' to pay.

If the buyer wants to open a dispute he can, the only way to stop a strike is to show you have paid, the OP cannot.

However a strike it nothing, the OP will probably not be able to use eBay for much longer.

You have misunderstood how ebay and paypal work.

The onlywayisup is correct, , OP will get a strike which is unlikely to do much harm in the circumstances.

Your ebay account is toast, in time it will get shut down to.. do not try to link it to a new paypal or a friends paypal, as any new accounts will be suspended to.

If PP believe you to be one and the same, I'd check your credit file as they now report dealings directly. This has nothing to do with your original query, but an issue that may stem from it.

You misunderstand how the law works, terms and conditions of private companies policies have no bearing on it. They don't have a leg to stand on, he has shown intent to pay, he has documented evidence of this, documented evidence of a refusal on the sellers part, Paypal/Ebay have stopped him paying and no court would find in their favour.

The only action they can take is an internal slap on the wrist by closing his account, which is irrelevant.

Strikes mean nothing, any buyer can simply open another account.

I don't think that is true, as you have no credit agreement with Paypal.

What is the source for this please?

I still think you are confused- why would a buyer be going to court to get a strike removed? You say yourself that it is of no real consequence.

There is nothing else that ebay can do to force a buyer to pay, all the rest is irrelevant. There is no need to over complicate matters. Buyer cannot pay, seller can open an NPB to recover his fees, buyer gets a strike- end of story.
