Paypal money reversal by buyer

Hi,
I have recently sold a mobile phone on eBay , Item No. 170118025768. The buyer paid immediately through PayPal. I therefore sent the phone to the buyer using recorded delivery. However a couple of days after this the payment on PayPal was put on temporary hold, meaning i did not have access to it. This payment has subsequently been reversed back to the buyer  . I now have no phone and am £185 down!! Is there any way i can get my money back?
Thanks,
Luke

Have paypal contacted you? They usually do when there is a problem.
Have they said why the payment was refunded?
Usually if a charge back is done by the buyer paypal will contact you asking for proof of delivery, certainly they will contact you to say there is a problem.
Maybe the charge back has been done because of fraudulent use of the buyers card?
You need to contact paypal to find out what is going on.0 -
Hi, Thanks for the reply, PayPal did contact me regarding the transaction. I therefore supplied them with the tracking number for the item. They then investigated the claim and put the funds on Temporary Hold. However the investigation has now been closed and the funds have been sent back to the buyer.0

Did you post to a confirmed address?
By the way, recorded delivery is completely inadequate insurance for an item that expensive. My TV is broken!

I would contact the other two people who he bought from and ask if they had problems. Have you pulled their contact details from Ebay and phoned them to ask what is going on, I guess they used a mobile number. I think you may have to go to court to get your money back.0

Unfortunatley on further inspection the address supplied by the buyer is unconfirmed. Also after my transaction had been completed on eBay another member has left negative feedback for the buyer along the same lines as my case. It seems like the buyer purchases an expensive item from eBay and immediately pays by Paypal, once he has confirmation that the item has been sent he cancels his Paypal payment. I fear i already know the answer to the following question as the buyer has unconfirmed details on PayPal, but is there any way i can attempt to retrieve my losses?0

You could use moneyclaim, but the chances are the buyers are long gone.
Taking paypal leaves sellers wide open to this sort of fraud...The money, Dave...0 -
He has bought up to 14 items looking at his history, so thay must do this for a living and its a shame the prisons are full0

Surely there must be some sort of recourse for this sort of behaviour it is technically theft and fraud0

Can we have a sticky, in BIG red letters, telling people not to use recorded delivery as it won't protect them. you may as well throw 70p away every time.
People still won't have it on the ebay boards and then every other day someone comes bleating about being "ripped off by paypal", if you are not covered by paypal seller protection, paypal have no choice but to take back the funds, they are powerless against the banks but if you are covered they stand the cost, not the seller.
It's really quite simple, if you do not have seller protection - you send things at your own risk. It's up to you how much you reduce that risk and how much you can stand to lose.
Paypal even make it easy for you - they tell you whether you are eligible , or not."There is a light that never goes out"0 -
I'm not a fan of recorded delivery, but if it is delivered and signed for, the tracking WILL count in your favour in the event of a paypal claim.
However, it's useless in he event of an unconfirmed address, as is SD.My TV is broken!
