Tesco cant even match their own prices....

would they sell product b by the tills at £1 but product b by the rest of similar products for 50p?
You'd then have barcode issues but yes they could if you got around this
In the old days in pubs you used to have two rooms, "the bar" and "the lounge", the former being more blokish, few tables, fruit machines, bare floor etc and the other being more family friendly with sofas, tables and carpets etc.
The two rooms charged different prices for the same drink, normally the lounge was about 10% more expensive but you could walk from one to the other with your drink. It also used to be a managers/ supervisors perk that they could run through lounge purchases through the bar's till and pocket the extra.
Even in 2001 when I'd just finished uni our local pub operated this with the differential pricing but typically only had one barman on in the day so he'd have to follow you to the bar to give you the lower price and then follow you to the lounge to keep an eye on you etc.
You wont find tesco charging different prices within the same store but you will certainly find them charging different prices in different stores and likewise different prices via different distribution channels.0 -
A number of places sell things at different prices online and in store.
You can even find the same thing at different prices in different Tesco stores.InsideInsurance wrote: »You wont find tesco charging different prices within the same store but you will certainly find them charging different prices in different stores and likewise different prices via different distribution channels.
Occasionally you will find the same product, packaged differently, in different places in the same store.
For instance, you'll sometimes find nuts as a baking ingredient cheaper than the same nuts as as a snack, as the latter attracts VAT, and the cost is passed on to unwary shoppers.Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0 -

John Lewis don't match their own prices either.
But the following is also the case:
They do promise to match prices to 'physical' stores - Tescos only match on groceries and only with specific competitors.
Those items you have highlighted in the link are clearly marked as Online Exclusive prices - Danni-R has not said whether it said anything similar in the case of the coffee machine on the Tescos site.0 -

Then technically that isnt the same product.
If you wanted to go down that route then some own brand (overt or covert) are the same as some branded goods but simply have a different label on the tin.0
