Hi all,
I've just noticed on my credit report that a I have a "red" late payment mark from 2012! agh..
I had infact payed off my credit card and didn't realise there was a remaining £13 on the account (which was probably interest that was applied after the "full payment" was made).
I was fairly sure the the remaining balance was covered and had no idea, until I received a letter a month later stating there was an outstanding balance and needed to pay etc..which I did straight away!
As it is such a small amount, do you think the bank would express any leniency on this as I am worried it might affect my mortgage application..
Thanks

Unfortunately not, it is your responsibility to ensure any trailing interest is paid, in full and within the terms and conditions. Sorry!0

Ah, thats a shame! Will a mortgage lender bare in mind that it was against such a small amount? Or do they not really take into consideration things like that?0

I couldn't say unfortunately, I recommend talking to an experienced broker, they would be able to advise better than anyone could on here0 -
While all banks might have different views, i had a 9 month old "late" marker on my file when i applied for my first mortgage recently, the sum was also something trivial, £28 odd, it was paid withing 2 days of the marker and HSBC pretty much ignored it after a quick explanation.0

How long did you wait before making payment?0

I'm sorry but I don't understand
Unless you habitually pay off your bill in full every then you should always expect to have an additional amount to pay the following month (even if you paid it in full that month).
You should be sent a statement the following month anyway.
That statement would shouw the amount due (if any) and the date by which is should be paid ... or at least the minimum amount.
What happened to the statement?
We seem to be missing a big chunk of the story here.0 -
To be honest, I can't really remember as it was over two years ago and I've just tried to look at my old statements online but am unable to access them if over a year ago.
I only used to make the minimum payment every month, came into a sum of money (3k), paid the remaining balance off thought that would be over and done with! Very foolish off me not to think about remaining interest!
I used to receive online statements, and I guess I just didn't check it after that, then once the payment was overdue, I received a letter and then I made the payment immedietly. So, I guess it was probably a week late..
It was completely my fault, the bank was not to blame, but I was wondering as a gesture of good will if it might be something they would consider.. If I can get the facts together! ;-)0 -

The problem is the credit file is supposed to be an accurate reflection of the credit history, and you did miss this payment. You can add a notice of correction on your file as explanation, though this may not make a lot of difference.
If this is the only blemish then it should nt be fatal unless you are really pushing things in terms of multiplier on salary, very lower depsoit etc
Also have you checked all three files, would be with doing just to confirm this is the only blip.0 -
Personally I wouldn't worry about a single late payment from over 2 years ago.0

So long that you aren't going for a 95% mortgage and it was a one off then you should be fine.0
