21 Years old with £30,000.00 in Premium Bond is time to invest somewhere else?

  • Thanks for the advice. I can show you my holder number if you don't believe me. I might keep them in premuim bonds but if i withdraw the money into my current account it said it would take 3 days but the problem is i have a bit of a gambling problem. I lost £300 last week and i would have over £31k sitting in my current account. So i think i should use the £1000 to win back the £300 then i will break even and invest the rest with secure trust for 7 years and get around £90 interest a month or I could just use some on bet fair exchange by beting and laying?. Thanks.

6:26 post by stuckindoor11 says it all, if there was any more confirmation needed.

There should be a "Troll" button on MSE.

Depends, if that poster is of mature years then you could have bought a lot in london for that money, just think what you'd have made in notting hill over the last half century!

I didn't want to offend the poster by asking if he/she was over 60!

I normally give people the benefit of the doubt

However looking at their other thread I think you might be right!

Maybe its the same person who posted 'Young, dumb, living on mum' ?

In all seriousness - due to compound effects, its very difficult to accumulate 30k (Net assets) unless you are an investment banker before 26 or so.

If you are on a decent salary 25-30k but pay rent you are probably left with 1200 a month? 600-700 to live and pay other bills... leaving 500? 500x12 = 6k So roughly 5 years... Or am i missing something?
My Goal: From 1st of Jan 2015 to 31st of December 2015 is to save 30000.

    48.78% towards 2015 target.

    105.3% towards 2014 target. :j
  • I am not a troll. I have this. I looking for advice I do have a bit of gambling problem which i need to sort out. I can copy and paste my prize history so people believe me. I not sure i should give the hold number when you log in to ns&i it will be a blue banking screen with the amount you invested. It also say if you want a warrant or money paid into your bank when you win a prize. This show i have a account and the full holding.

    Not an investment banker...
Not reached the age of 26...
    Not on a ''decent salary''...
Had 30k in the bank at 21...

To be honest, if living with parents, I don't understand why most people under 26 wouldn't have 30k accumulated.
However, since the gambling comment it does indeed sound as though the OP is yet another troll; but I don't think we should presume that a poster is trolling as soon as we hear of a young person with a 5 figure sum.

It's got the MO of somebody who's been posting similar "young and wealthy" stuff for the past couple of years.

I would say if you have a gambling problem you should leave it in a place where it's relatively difficult to get hold of, then seek help to get rid of your gambling problem.

"So i think i should use the £1000 to win back the £300 then i will break even"

Right there, that's the problem - how does it help to use £1000 to get £300? Unless you mean that you're going to use £1000 and get that back as well as your £300, in which case I think you're relying a bit too much on your [STRIKE]skill[/STRIKE] luck as a gambler.
