All i know is my hb gets paid directley to the letting agent and the missing payments are from oct - now and i didnt even know. I think it was because i moved from jsa to esa for medical reasons. I will ring the council again and try to sort this out as im effectively homless.
When you've managed to secure accommodation, this could be where your problem lies. Did you fill out a new HB claim when you moved from JSA? If not, then your HB would have been stopped automatically. Definitely needs looking into.
Hope you get something sorted.0 -
Sounds like its HMO, so they have just changed your room lock. A loccy should be able to get you in PDQ, you can just show them ID, at least you have the main door key to get into the house. Dial 101 and let them know what your doing, then call the loccy. Having the lock changed will also secure your flat against another eviction attempt.0

I hope the OP keeps us up to speed, pretty shocking to get chucked out of your home with no warning!0

I very much doubt that the housing benefit team at the council have not written to the OP to advise that his claim for housing benefit has been suspended due to the transition in benefits.
The Council are obliged to notify claimants in writing about the suspension of their claim. The Council will advise them of the reasons why they took this action and the ways in which the claimant can remedy the situation. Usually the remedial action will require them to provide the Council if further evidence and information to substantiate their on going entitlement to Housing and Council Tax Benefit.
Also i know from discussions with my council, the systems my local council uses means they automatically get notifications when the claimant entitlement to dwp benefits change, yes their claims get suspended whilst waiting for the claim to be re-assessed by the assesors BUT the assessors have access to dwp systems so can check the claimants dwp benefits and claim dates and if is a straightfoward change there may not be any requirement of the claimant to do anything.
I suspect there is more to this than we are being told.Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

I'm not so optimistic. Now that OP is back in, what is to stop the landlord going through the correct channels to evict OP? I'm assuming that OP doesn't have the money to hand to clear the rent arrears, so it will be straightforward for the landlord to follow the correct procedures to start the eviction process - S8 and/or S11.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
