It went through the process of printing but sometimes there were a few little spots and sometimes a few little lines this was on copying Other times there was nothing on the paper.
Printing from the laptop for the most part there was nothing and it kept using ink but to no avail The connection was there and it did go into print but nothing on the paper. Prior to it going back it for the most part was just the odd thing There were only 4 inks showing on the nozzle test and there are 5 inks one being photo black.
Cleaning the print heads did not help and I spent a fortunate on Epson ink trying to sort it out,
The one the sent as a replacement would not print at all It has ink in it which they say it should not have had and the could not understand how this had been sent out. I had a new set of inks which one by one I had to insert as they were empty I was doing this with the Epson Support person on the phone. When we got to the 4th clean after an hour she went off the phone and said carry it out twice more and this was when it said do not recognise the ink please reinstall No matter how often I did so I got this message so was completely stuck. The printer I sent back had a different serial no from the one they sent me, The one they sent looks and they admitted that it could be one that had been returned and had not been repaired. I should have got a printer with a set of ink and no ink in the printer. I do think it was the print head that are the problem and no matter what I did it still would not print The connection was there the paper went through the printer but nothing on it. I am glad to have a refund and now need to make a decision but am taking a couple of days out to recharge my batteries after all the tune and effort I put in trying to sort this out,
Dont know about laser printers but are they 3 in 1 the same as a ink jet printer? There is an article in my Which magazine which arrived yesterday but I have still to read it properly I don't want to spend a fortune on a printer as I don't feel I warrent it. Thanks for the info and hope this clarifies things

It does sound like a printhead problem and that you were unlucky the replacement also had a similar fault. I don't know anything about laser printers either other than that they are more expensive but with inkjets you just have to accept that you would be doing well with one that lasts 3 or 4 years. It is for this reason that although I always go for a major brand, I only consider their budget range and even then only if they have cheap compatibles available.

Yes and the printer I was replacing also had a print head problem black ink but I had it for around 3-4 years and was happy just to cut my losses. It was costing a fortune buying ink to try and clear it. I am reading so many problems with other ink jet Epson printers the XP 800 that I am confused about what I should buy Will need to make a decision and could do with a printer right now. Thanks for the input.
