How can I pick the Job Centre I sign on with?

I am about to 'sign on' again (contribution based JSA - signed off 7 weeks ago)
I would like to pick a different Job Centre to sign on at than the nearest one that my postcode is going to automatically direct me too, how could I change this?
Perhaps I should apply for JSA not online, but in the JC that I wish to sign in with - would that be possible?
Thanks

The previous two answers are incorrect - you can choose where you sign on.
If you are able to claim online, you will have to do so - you cannot make a claim in person or by phone unless you are incapable of an online application.
Therefore - make your claim online and attend the interview you're offered, even though it's not at the right office. This will ensure your claim is processed quickly & you get paid promptly. Then attend the office you wish to sign at and ask for a live transfer - you need to do this WELL BEFORE you're normal fortnightly signing appointment or it may cause you problems with payment.
They will arrange an appointment for the transfer to be completed, and new signing appointments issued etc. If this appointment is after your normal signing appointment at the other office you MUST attend that or you risk a sanction for failing to attend.0 -

so are you saying that people can choose which office handles their signing on?
You maybe right but I doubt it very much.0 -
Pick an illogical office, be prepared to arouse suspicions.
Why do you want to sign at Blackpool Mr Smith?

When i was unemployed and applied for JSA, i was able to choose. The only reason being that there were 2 job centres, and both were exactly the same distance away (a 25 min drive in opposite directions).0

I can understand it in that case then, but to just turn up and ask to sign on it the office of your choosing, sorry I just don't believe it.0 -
When I was signing on (this was about 8 years ago), I was able to choose the office to sign on, to some extent. I was initially given an appointment at the office that they chose, then after the first appointment I asked if I could switch to another office. They said I could, but would have to go through some procedures again.
The second office was near my parents' house, so they could have had my daughter, which would have helped, as she was only 2 and it made it difficult to concentrate on what the advisor was saying. Fortunately I found a job quite quickly, so didn't get round to changing. I think the second office was actually nearer my house, but in a different county, as we lived on the borders.0 -
I would like to select a JC (that is not the closest to the address I will register with) for logistical reasons - I'm claiming JSA only so hopefully that may be possible.0
