For my 18th my parents paid for a limo to take me and six friends to the airport for our post A-level holiday. (Was cheaper than driving or taxis as they got mate's rates).
If he's into computers or games, maybe tickets to one of the Gadget Shows live tours? They do one about Easter in Birmingham, but that may be too far to go?*** Thank you for your consideration ***0 -
Thanks again everyone, lots of ideas for me to think about, some I would have never have thought about actually.0

If you are interesting in the zoo keeper for the day, I believe they do it at Yorkshire Wildlife Park (Doncaster), which isn't too far away from West Yorkshire.0

Has he got a passport? (As at £75 or so, it isn't cheap but does hold the door open to possibilities.)
A smart suit that fits & that he enjoys wearing?
The knowhow to use a real razor & enjoy the outcome? (They do "Traditional Shave" experience days just north of Durham, but it may not be something 'to do with mum'!)
Hoping you both have a very happy 18th birthday!0 -
Thank for those suggestions Digforvictory and DS4215 :-)0

Why not have a look at redletter days. I have used them before and they are really good and prices very compatible.
They don't just have driving exp they also do different classes (eg: Indian cookery), the London eye, Wembley Stadium tours etc.
You should have a look there may be something he may like and would be memorable.

My Son was 18 last year and we opted for a rather traditional present in a watch. It is a very nice watch (more than we would normally spend on birthday presents!) and he has worn it every day since. We made sure it was a waterproof one (good job as he wore it in the sea when he went on holiday with his pals last summer lol) and one of those that never needs a battery and he says he often looks at it and thinks of us while he is away ah
We've got 2 more sons to reach 18 and I think we will do the same for them, they will all want to go out with their friends and not us but I hope they will keep their gifts for ever, I've still got things I was given for my 18th - many years ago!

If he likes gaming, try an accessory like a gaming keyboard, mouse, mousepad, speakers, headphones, or chair.0
