Motorpoint anyone purchased car without seeing?

this car as a massive saving compared to others.
If that is the case then you really do need to see it first to find out why.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
Understand what you are saying, but this car as a massive saving compared to others.
That should be a pretty major warning sign. There's likely to be something funny with it (odds are it's been abused/tatty), and even more reason to see it first.
If you're worried about money, get an older one for the same money and it'll probably be in better condition.0 -
Thanks for the advice everyone.0

Has motorpoint in derby closed?0

Hi, I want to purchase car from Motorpoint without seeing. I know their are risks involved but some of the cars that I see are in glasgow etc and am based in Leicester. Just wanted to know if anyone has actually done this?
Thanks for any help.
I wouldn't buy any used car without first inspecting it and taking it for a test drive (or at least having it inspected by a competent vehicle engineer)
If you don't, then you've nothing to complain about when you pick it up/have it delivered.
Heck, I won't even hand over my money for a brand new car until I have inspected and accepted it.Rodney_Trotter wrote: »Has motorpoint in derby closed?
Edit: Branch in Derby is still open afaik. Also a branch in Birmingham if that's more convenient.0 -

The reason for the question is presumably because, as I understand, MotorPoint are happy to have a car transported to a local branch if you are seriously interested in buying it, so that you can decide whether or not to go ahead. (a small fee may apply, but I'm sure they will knock that off the asking price on request if you do decide to go ahead and buy)

Thanks will pay deposit first, then have a look before paying balance.0 -

What a great idea.
Enter into a contract to purchase the vehicle, pay a deposit to seal seal the deal by showing your commitment to purchase it ... and then have a look at what you agreed to buy.
Brilliant!

Please don't do that unless you have it in writing that your deposit is fully refundable if you change you mind for any reason.
Edit: Just looked at their terms and conditions - looks like you won't get the deposit back if you change your mind.0 -

I would, and - indeed - I have. BUT...
It'd have to be something pretty bloody unusual, and there'd have to be a very good reason why I/somebody on my behalf couldn't inspect it.
I'd have to see plenty of pictures, and I'd have to have a good chat with the vendor, and get a good feeling about them.
Since I'd have to go and collect it anyway, I'd be quite prepared to walk away if it really didn't meet up to expectations - or renegotiate the price if it was still acceptable.
For something common, from a car supermarket? Not a flamin' hope...
Even if it was in my local branch of the supermarket, a big price difference compared to other similar cars would be having the antennae on full-alert as to why. The people pricing these things up do not just make mistakes. There are, as has been pointed out, thousands of comparisons to base the pricing on.
Seriously, OP, you are setting yourself up for a big disappointment sooner or later. DO NOT send the deposit. At best, you'll lose it.0
